Babe Ruth: A Legend George Herman Ruth:
Early Life

Born on February 6th 1895, in Baltimore, Maryland, George Herman Ruth was troubled with many problems. Only George and his sister Maime have survived past infancy. Kate Ruth died of Tuberculosis while George was still a teenager. At age 19, George's talent was discovered by Jack Dunn, manager and owner of the Boston Orioles. Because of Ruth's talent, Jack signed him to a contract. Known as "Jack's newest babe", George was named Babe since. George Herman Ruth has had many nicknames since he has become a major league baseball player. The most common and famous name was "Babe Ruth". He was also named, "The sultan of Swat" or "The Bambino". Never let the fear of striking out, keep you from coming up to bat -Babe Ruth It's hard to beat a person who never gives up -Babe Ruth Babe was purchased from the Boston Red Sox by the New York Yankees. In 1920, The New York Yankees played the Boston Red Sox, and Babe defeated his old team with an astounding 54 home runs.
