Warm-up Turn and Talk: What is a Community Mural?

Instructions: Paint your folder cover
1. Write your name & period on the back first!
2. Pass the bucket of paint with brushes from to table no pictures
3. no letters, just colors and shapes.
4. Careful not to mix colors, drip or use too much paint!
5. Put on drying rack when done. Clean-up!
Put your binders on the shelves. Bring folders and Lt1 projects to the table.
FIND THE TABLE THAT MATCHES THE NAME ON YOUR CARD.
Put your binders on back shelves. Find your LT1 Collaborative Art pieces (look on the drying rack!). Folder collectors bring folders to table.
Objective Day 7: Artists will finish their LT1 Collaborative Art Challenge and do the Reflection/Rubric to earn a group grade. How did it go working together last class? Find your designs so far and put them together on your table.

Collective identity refers to a person's sense of belonging to a group. The identity of the group, or the 'collective,' becomes a part of the person's individual identity. The idea here is that by participating in social activities, a person can develop a sense of belonging and an identity that goes beyond the person.

What is a RFP? A Request for Proposals is a process where a funder accepts bids/ideas for a project. In this case, your classmates will act as the clients and they will decide who's design wins the RFP.

Scene descriptions by Johanna!
Scene 1: Before Minnesota was altered by humans, the land was mostly prairie with few trees, tall grasses and many lakes.
Scene 2: The original inhabitants of Minnesota were the Dakota and the Anishinaabe people. This Ojibwe scene shows a birchbark canoe and riverside wigwam.
Scene 3: As Minneapolis developed, so did the need for an orphanage. Cadwallader Washburn built the orphanage on this property in 1883.
Scene 4: Many of the houses in this neighborhood were built in the early 1900’s. Washburn School (for 7th-12th grades) opened its doors in 1925.
Scene 5: In 1931 our school was built and named for Minnesota's first governor, Alexander Ramsey.
Scene 6: In 1973 Ramsey and Anthony, both all-white schools, integrated Bryant, an all-black school to form a desegregated 9th grade.
