A prime number is a number that only has 1 and itself as factors. A composite number is a number that has more than 2 numbers for factors.

To find the prime factorization of a number you have to start by making a factor tree. To make a factor tree first you have to write the number you are going to find the prime factorization of, I am going to use 24. Then you have to figure out if the number is prime or composite 24 is composite. If its composite you have to write what you can multiply 12 times 2 is 24 so I make 2 branches and put 12 times 2 . Then you figure out if the numbers you multiplied are prime or composite. 12 is composite but 2 is prime but you can still keep going if only one number is composite. Since 12 is composite I have to put 2 numbers you can multiply to find 12, 3 times 4 is 12 so I make 2 more branches and write 3 times 4 and bring the 2 of 12 times 2 down. Now I have 3 times 4 times 2 but 4 is still composite so that means I can keep going. 2 times 2 is fore so I make 2 more branches under 4 and put 2 times 2 and bring the 3 and the 2 down. Now I have 3 times 2 times 2 times 2 and all the numbers are prime so that is the prime factorization for 24.

To do the partial quotient method you first need to get 2 numbers to divide with the dividend and the divisor, I am going to use 11 divided into 385. 11 times 30 gets me the closest to 385 without passing it 11 times 30 is 330 and 385 minus 330 is 55 11 times 5 is 55, so 55 minus 55 is 0 and then I add 30 and 5, the numbers I multiplies 11 with, and get 35 so the awnser is 35 and no remainders.
