En la actualidad el estudio del sistema nervioso y sus funciones son indispensables para comprender la conducta de los organismos ya que en él se generan y elaboran los procesos para la representación y adaptación al medio ambiente que le permiten al individuo interactuar de una forma correcta y eficaz al medio que le rodea.

Una de las principales razones por las que se estudia al Sistema Nervioso dentro de la Psicología es porque nos permite comprender su participación en la generación de las conductas del individuo y la función adaptativa que desempeña.
