Transcript of Medusa presentation

Medusa was once
very beautiful & she
lived far in the North
where the sun didn't
visit. SOURCES: Medusa was a very ugly
creature with snakes for her hair.
Let's look at how
she came into existence,
for she wasn't always the way she is now. Medusa was the daughter of Phorkys and Keto,
and one of the three sisters known as the Gorgones,
the evil and winged demonic creatures.
Her other two sisters were Sthenno and Euryale.
Medusa was the only mortal of the three. Phorky's & Keto! The Gorgone sisters.
(Sthenno, Euryale, Medusa) Being very curious, she wanted to see the sun,
and asked the Goddess Athena for
permission to visit the South.
Athena refused to allow Medusa to visit. Even though she was cursed with evil,
Perseus, God of war, believed that Medusa didn't
derserve to have the powers that she had since she
was the only mortal of the family, so he cut off
her head, and the blood that dripped from the
wound produced the innumerable serpents that
infest the world. Medusa then got angry and told Athena
that she refused to let her visit because she
was jealous of her beauty. Athena was then
angered and punished Medusa by turning her magnificent
long and crowning hair into snakes, and cursing her by making anybody that looks into her eyes turn into stone. Medusa! INTERESTING FACTS: The name "Medusa" means
Protectress or Guardian. Some people think Medusa was cursed
by Athena because she was found lying in
bed with Poseidon, God of the Sea. Medusa had two children.
Pegasus (a winged horse)
& Chrysaor (hero of the golden sword), which are both said to have sprung from her severed head. "The Gorgon Sisters." The Gorgon Sisters. N.p., n.d. Web. 23 Apr. 2013 N.p., n.d. Web "Medusa'sLife."
