Apple, Samsung and Google are among the leaders in current smartphone and tablet production
Outpaced laptop market
Laptop sales have grown but not kept up with the smartphone or tablet sales growth
However, there are some diehard laptop fans
Lament the small size of smartphones and the lacking computer power of tablets
In response, smartphone marketers developed a number of projection techniques such as Microsoft Kinect

Most prefer smartphones and tablets because of simplicity
Most consumers are familiar with all the apps available
Consumers enjoy multiple capabilities at their fingertips
Hedonic value through social media
Consumers keep up on sites such as Facebook, Twitter, or MySpace on the go
Typically look for features such as screen size, battery life, and storage capability
Reputation of manufacturer is taken into account
Accessories associated with the product play a role in consumption
Ex: Carrying cases, external keyboards, etc...
The Tablets Future
Likely that tablets will overtake laptops in the business world shown by the 200% growth rate in sales
Tablets prove to be less intrusive in business meetings
Tend to have much better battery life than the average laptop
Smartphone Sales
Eventually fall victim to tablets
Analysts already predict the most dramatic decrease in sales will be with the smartphone
Other than the telephone feature, smartphones do not have many advantages over tablets
Now because of technologies such as FaceTime and Skype, this may not even be an issue for tablets
• Smartphones, tablets, and laptops are in competition to take over the communication world.
• With increase in technology, smartphones and tablets have become more convenient and less of a hassle to travel with than laptops, causing the sales to diminish.
• Laptops will always remain to be a part of people’s lives, as the computing power will always be greater.
• Smartphones and Tablets will go head to head for sales, but in time it is the tablet will make up for small missing communication features that the smartphone has.
• Preference of devices will decide the winner.

What factors do consumers consider when making judgements about smartphones?
Consumers are able to associate satisfaction or dissatisfaction with certain brands, which is why brand names are so important
Have a great influence on consumers' purchasing decision, and sometimes it's the basis for evaluating a product. For this reason, companies are putting an emphasis on the features customers value the most, such as built-in cameras
Strong determining factor when it comes to consumer judgements about smartphones
Consumers are more likely to purchase a product if the prices are in their favor
One of most important factors
Before consumers commit to a product, they must first evaluate its reliability, durability, and overall quality

What type of decision rule would a consumer most likely use when selecting between smartphone brands? How could they use such a rule?
When selecting between smartphone brands, consumers would most likely consider compensatory rules
This will allow individuals to weigh out the relevant attributes of each product and determine what brand outweighs the other
To use this rule, consumers compute a score for each brand, based on its characteristics, and ultimately selects the brand with the highest score
