Transcript of Ms Markovic's Life Map

I was born in Bor, Serbia, a small mountain town. Labour took 15 minutes and my mum was waiting in the hallway watching a very important soccer game when it happened.
Swallowed a marble and thought I was going to die - that was the first time I was ever faced with my own death and it scared the heebie jeebies out of me. I ran to the toilet and immediately tried to poop it out. It reappeared two days later
I started kindy in Serbia. It was a horrible experience. My teacher was a crabby lady who clearly wasn't a fan of children. One time we had to draw a flower on a piece of paper. She said the best ones would go on the wall of the classroom. She also said that the flower must be drawn on a portrait orientation, not landscape. I had a brain fart and drew mine landscape. I still cry myself to sleep.
On a cold winter's day in the middle of the night, my family and I boarded a bus to Belgrade to catch a plane to New Zealand, leaving our extended family behind forever. My grandma and Auntie were screaming for us to stay and repeating tearfully, "You'll be back won't you? You'll be back soon? We can't live without you." It was one of the hardest moments of my life
