Sun Prints The formula for sun prints: Fe2+ + [Fe(CN)6]3- → KFe[Fe(CN)6] · 5 H2O This reaction is called light- activated reaction. What is Sun Prints Sun Prints is a type of art that people create. It is beautiful art that contains the sun light to help create it. Background in formation When making a sun print you use sun print paper. In sun prints paper it uses a chemical called Berlin Green. The Berlin green on the paper dissolves when you place it in water. When this chemical is hit by the sun light it causes a light- activated chemical reaction. This reaction creates a new chemical called Prussian blue. When the sun print is done it changes to a different shade of blue. When making a sun print you first need to place the objects on the sun print paper and cardboard under neath the paper. Place the object in any pattern you like. After you place a plexiglass on top and binder clips on the side to hold it down. Then you place it in direct sunlight. You will need to leave it there until the color of the paper changes.
