Using the Library
- Search for books, e-books, DVDs, print journals…
- Available online: www.uel.ac.uk/library
- Dedicated ‘Library Search PCs' in all libraries.
- Charged for the late return of items
- £1 per day for 1 week loan items
- 50p per hour for short loan items
- Cannot borrow if your fines exceed £25.00
- Pay at counter, self-service machines or over phone using chip and PIN.
- Group Study Rooms – book for up to 2 hours
- Assistive Technology Room
- Wi-fi enabled throughout
A SCONUL Access card will let you use the libraries of many other universities.

National Oceanographic Library
- Borrow up to 15 items at a time.
- Automatic renewals (unless reserved by another library user).
- Extended loan periods for students with known disabilities and dyslexia.
- PCs with full Internet access and Microsoft Office 2007.
- Printing and binding facilities.

A few rules:
- Mobile phones on silent at all times.
- No food anywhere in the libraries.
- Covers range of key IT skills, including using Microsoft Office.

- Confirmation of your log-in is sent to your Webmail.

How to access electronic resources
all the resources we subscribe to will be accessible to you when on campus
when working off campus you will need to use a password - usually your Institutional Login (University user name and password)
or you can set up a VPN connection. This is a service provided by iSolutions which makes it appear as though your computer at home is 'on campus'

No but if your items are overdue you will not be able to borrow anything else until they are renewed or returned.
Penalties vary depending on the loan period of the item and the demand for it.
