Phase 2: Systems Analysis One purpose of the systems analysis phase is for designers to gain a thorough understanding of an organization's current way of doing things in the area for which the new Information System will be constructed. The process of conducting analysis requires that many tasks, or subphases be performed:
The first subphase focuses on determining the system requirements
to determine requirements an analyst works closely with users to determine what is needed for the proposed system After collecting the requirements, analysts
organize this informationusing data, process,
and logic modeling tools. Collecting requirements:
a process of gathering and organizing information from users, managers, business processes, and documents to understand how a proposed information system will function which uses a variety of techniques. Techniques:
Document analysis In Addition to these techniques, there are other contemporary approaches for collecting system requirements:
Critical Success Factors Methodology
-something that must go well to ensure the success of a manager, department, devision, or organization.
Joint application design
-Process used for requirements collection To construct an information system, systems analysts must understand what data the information system needs in order to accomplish its intended tasks. To do this they use data modeling tools to collect and describe the data to users to confirm that all needed data are presented. Each Data entity may have one or more attributes that describe it. Additionally each data entity may be related to other data entities.
