5 years as a legal permanent
resident of the U.S. Obtain a citizenship application form. Complete the form completely and honestly.Submit the form to USCIS along with two photographs. Following the interview with the USCIS, a request for citienzship will either be granted, continued, or denied. Even after your application is approved, you will not become a U.S. citizen until you have taken the Oath of Allegiance, swearing allegiance to the United States and renouncing all allegiance to any foreign country.
