himalayan marmot physical characteristics Habitat Human Activity Conservation Interesting facts The Himalaya Marmot is light or dark shade of brown, dark chocolate Brown or a reddish brown. They have tiny limbs and short tails. The size is about the same as a normal house cat. Slim face and sometimes stands on its back legs when they are alarmed or eating. The Himalayan Marmots like herbs and grass.They also happy with insects, seeds, mosses, lichens, roots, flowers and berries! Very many Himalayan Marmots live together in the mountains. In addition, the snow leopard lives nearby which is endangered. Therefore, the snow leopard eats the Himalayan Marmot. The Himalayan Marmot is one of the 14 marmot species. They are the highest living mammals in the world! This marmot is related to a woodchuck! The Himalayan Marmot is found 4000m to the upper edge of the vegetation zone! This is where the plants can only grow in! Cool, Eh? -The Himalayan Marmot lives in high alpine meadows of Jammu and Kashmir
-The Himalayan Marmot lives in small packs called colonies.

The peaceful Himalayan Marmot is able to adapt non-threatening to human activity, some are killed for their fur. Some are poisoned because they are too close human population.
