The 50's fashion began in 1947 with Christian Dior's "New Look"
By 1951, Blenciaga made dresses without waistline.
Dior's new look consisted of below mid calf-length, full skirts (either flowing or tight), pointed bust, small waist, and rounded shoulder lines.

Pucci opened Fashion House of Emilio Pucci
Mass production of computers
1951:
Color TV and rock & roll started in the U.S.
I.D. cards came out for South Africans to identify race
Dresses with no waistline were made by Balenciaga
A new beauty competetion came out called "Miss World"
1952:
Dwight Eisenhower became the new U.S. president
Car seat belts came out
The new collection of Givenchi was showed in Paris
Polio vaccine was made
Victor Stiebel and Cavanagh opened a new fashion salon in London
1953:
When princess Elizabeth was 25 she was crowned queen.
Mount Everest was climbed for the first time
James Watson and Frances Crick discovered DNA

More Americans had television sets
Coco channel reopened a hair salom after long closure in Paris
1955:
civil rights campaign went underway in the U.S.

Mary Quant designed suit shapes that later became the sixties fashion look
Alaska and Hawaii join U.S. and became the states of North America
Toys, Movies, and Music
Toys:
Mr. Potato Head (1952), Barbie dolls (1950), and play-doh (1956) were very popular toys
Movies:
Cinderella (1950), Alice in Wonderland (1952), Peter Pan (1954), Lady and the Tramp (1955), Sleeping Beauty (1959)
Music:
R&B, jazz, blues, and rock & roll music was very popular in the 50's.
Marilyn Monroe
Marilyn Monroe was born on June. 1, 1926 in Los-Angles, California, US. Her real name was Norma Jeane Mortenson, she married three times. She was an American actress, model and singer. Monroe received a lot of awards like David Di Donatello award and some nominations.
In 1999, she was ranked as the sixth-greatest female star of all time by the American Film Institute.
She died on August 5, 1962 at the at 4:25 a.m. from a Barbiturate overdose and she rests in peace in Western Village Memorial Park Cemetery, Westwood, Los-Angles, US.
Men's Wear
Men usually wore a grey suit with a tie and a hat. They also wore an overcoat called paletot, which also women wore. Unlike the Sillouettes, the trousers didn't change much from the 50's to now.
