A loss of 91 decibels or more is described as profound. They are Deaf. So what is a profound loss then? Demo on how to use the hearing device *Handle your device with care. Don’t drop on hard surfaces.
*Store your device in a safe place that's dry and cool, safe and secured.
*Switch off your device when you're not using it. If you don't use it for a long period of time, remove the battery.
*Battery contacts should be cleaned regularly. Use a cotton swab.
*For hearing aids, remove earwax from your hearing aid to prevent temporary malfunction or permanent damage.
*For hearing aids, clean it using the small brush or the soft cloth that came with it. Tips on How to Take Care of the Device Accommodations & Modifications Where the Student is: Preferential seating (close to and facing the teacher)
How to Speak: *Talk naturally, at a slightly slower pace than usual.

*Make sure your lips are clearly visible. Face the class, not the blackboard, when speaking.

*Be sure your student is watching before you speak or give assignments.
How you teach: *Ask open-ended comprehension questions, so the student can’t respond with a yes or no.
*Encourage the student to answer in full sentences; this helps you check comprehension.
*Encourage the student to ask for repetition or rephrasing when he needs it.
*Name each speaker, so the student knows who is talking.
*Cue your student to page numbers in the textbook.
*Use visual aids and provide hands-on experiential learning whenever possible.
What to Provide: *Institute a buddy system - such as a classroom helper or official notetaker.
*Write new and unusual words, and homework assignments on the board; provide a handout if possible.
How to facilitate test-taking: Be aware that modifications may be needed in certain testing situations such as extended time, simplified instructions, study guide and etc.
