Transcript of Coconut (Cocos nucifera) used as Floor wax

Scope and Limitations of the Study
There is one flaw in our research. In order to make an odorless and non-irritating floor wax, we need to also have odorless oil but the oil of the coconut have an odd smell with it so we have to find ways to solve the problems also the flaw of our research.
Statement of the Problem
One of the main problems that we need to solve is the irritating smell of the floor wax. According to the research, cleaning products such as floor wax contain a high level of EGBE or Ethylene Glycol Mon butyl Ether that can harm our body. “The results of studies in animals have clearly demonstrated (EGBE) dose-related adverse effects on the central nervous system, the hematopoietic tissues, the blood, the kidneys, and the liver”. So the researchers want to solve this problem and make a health safe wax.
Introduction
Floor wax, one of the holders of an irritating smell that can harm our nasal systems. Our product is made to counter the problem and with a little of improvement than an ordinary floor wax that are sold in stores. This can also helps to prevent the wastes in our environment by using the coconut waste.
Abstract
The Investigatory Project that we’re going to present to you; the coco wax.

We made this Investigatory Project because its more affordable and we can put in practice in our houses in weekly applying this kind of wax. In this coco wax, we may able to know the significance of the coconut (tree) and also we may able to have our budget in making this cheaper to have an advantage in us. Aside of the wax’s that smell odd but in this case, we will not use the said wax but the paraffin wax/mineral wax. So when we’re going to apply this, it can shine our floor and of course it cannot produce odd odor in our room or any places that are applicable to this wax.

Proposal
Paraffin wax Coconut oil

This is the coco wax this wax is derived from one of our group mates Larry Amiel Tablando when he was in grade 4. We also used coconut meat in rubbing the floor and it shined brightly.

Results and discussion
Our Investigatory Project called the “Coco Wax”, the researchers tried 3 times in making it successful. In trial 1, our group spend a lot of expenses because our group joined the ingredient that which our I.P. could possibly rejected. It means our group used coconut in able to have the coconut oil from it, so the researchers find ways so that it could be accepted to other people who are professionals when it comes in this product. So during Trial 2, our group was very careful when measuring it accurately and precisely, also in making these observations and analysis of this I.P., our group measured everything. In the 3rd trial, the researchers continue to examine an accurate ingredients and affordable and organic ingredients which are needed in this product and during the 3rd trial, our group concluded that the coconut floor wax is not applicable in the wooden floor and it is applicable in cemented floor.
So in this case, our group discussed how can we be able to solved this problem? The researchers need’s to examine so that we can be able to apply in any floor except for the tiles.
Origin of the Study
The researcher came from one of our members. The researcher told us that he had an experience in grade school. His teacher made them scrub the floor with coconut meat that is somewhat spoiled. Although the smell of spoiled coconut is bad but they still did it. After a few scrubs it made the floor shine like it’s new. That is why we came up with this somewhat ridiculous but great idea of making floor wax out of coconut.
Summary and conclusion
Out of 5 abstracts that our group made, one only was accepted. This Investigatory Project help’s you to avoid irritating smell of floor wax that the community used nowadays. But because of this product, the society will live in peacefully and free from danger in our health.

The researchers came up of an abstract which are made up of coconut meat or the waste product of the coconut, paraffin wax and cooking oil or used oil. In our group, during the 1st trial, we didn’t measured everything but the researchers did is just doing Investigatory Project without accuracy in making this I.P. but during the 2nd trial, the researchers learned a lesson from the 1st trial because imagine, how can you do Investigatory Project without investigate everything and also with accuracy in the experimentations and observations of it. So the researchers measured everything which are needed to be measured like the mass of the paraffin wax, coconut meat and also the cooking oil. The researchers continue making the I.P. more accurate that the Trial 2 and also our group made a floor wax box so that the researchers can pass already the finish product of our group’s I.P. which is the “Coco Wax”.

Significance of the Study
As what is stated in the “Statement of the Problem” this study is for the people to have a perfect health when exposed to these things. So that is why we always persevere to make this research in order to protect health of the entire community.
Review of related Literature
The coconut palm (also, cocoanut), Cocos nucifera, is a member of the family Arecaceae (palm family). It is the only accepted species in the genus Cocoas. The term coconut can refer to the entire coconut palm, the seed, or the fruit, which botanically, is a drupe, not a nut. The spelling cocoanut is an archaic from of the word. The term is derived from 16th century Portuguese and Spanish coco, meaning “head” or “skull” from the three small holes on the coconut shell that resemble human facial features.
Found out throughout the tropic and sub-tropic area, the coconut is known for its great versatility as seen in the many domestic, commercial, and industrial uses of its different parts. Coconuts are part of the daily diets of many people. Coconuts are different from any other fruits because they contain a very large quantity of water and when immature they are known as tender-nuts or jelly-nuts and may be harvested for drinking. When they mature they still contain some water and can be used as seed nuts or processed to give oil from the kernel, charcoal from the hard shell and coir from the fibrous husk. The endosperm is initially in its nuclear phase suspended within the coconut water. As development continues, cellular layers of endosperm deposit along the walls of the coconut, becoming the edible coconut “flesh”. When dried, the coconut flesh is called copra. The oil and milk derived from it are commonly used in cooking and frying; coconut oil is also widely used in soaps and cosmetics. The clear liquid coconut water within is refreshing drink. The husks and leaves can be used as materials to make a variety of products for furnishing and decorating. It also had cultural and religious significance in many societies that used it.
Materials Needed
1 cup cooking oil
100 mg of paraffin wax
1 coconut meat
2 pat
1 stainless
Procedure
1.) Put a 1/4 amount of water to help to extract the coconut oil from coconut.
2.) Put 100 mg. of paraffin wax in the pot enable to melt it. Then, transfer it on the stainless glass.
3.) Put 1/2 cup of cooking oil, then, pour also the 160 ml of cup of coconut meat.
4.) After 30 minutes, filtered the coconut meat in the stainless glass so that the oil will pass through it.
5.) Mixed the melted wax and the filtered coconut meat, so that it looks like floor wax.
Recommendation
The Coco- wax which is made from the coconut fruits is recommended as a commercially viable wax nowadays due to its superiority in terms of quality, cost and production rate as compared to the commercial wax today.
In addition, this report recommends further work to:  make an assessment of the market demand or marketability of this product; quantify the market demand for the product; establish the optimal scale of production by analyzing market demand against production and set-up costs; research further the claim that coco-wax made from coconut fruits is more effective and easy to avail due to the availability of its natural resources and materials. Establishing the validity of this claim will impact on the demand and marketability of this product.
