Dentistry JOB JOB DESCIPTION: Diagnose and treat disease, injuries, and problems with the teeth and gums
Give anesthetics to limit the amount of pain during a surgical procedure
Come up with a plan to treat patients with dental problems
Teach patients proper dental hygiene
Examine teeth and gums using x-ray, dental instruments and other equipment
Write prescriptions for antibiotics and other medicines
Provide instruction on diet, brushing, flossing, the use of flourides, and other aspects of dental care
Remove tooth decay, fill cavities, examine x-rays, straighten teeth, and repair fractured teeth.
Perform corrective surgery on gums and supporting bones to treat gum diseases
Make dentures

Focus on the dentistry of children

Treat gums and bone supporting the teeth
Prosthodontist-
Replace missing teeth with permanent fixtures, such as crowns and bridges or with removable fixtures such as dentures

Perform root canal therapy

Diagnose oral diseases

Diagnose diseases in the head and neck through the use of imaging technologies
Dental Public Health Specialist-
Promotes good dental health and preventing dental diseases with in the community
Education Education: Master degree is the minimum formal requirement
May require a doctorate
You MUST graduate from accredited dental school and pass written practical examinations
Dental schools require a minimum of 2 years of college-level education to be admitted
If you want to become a dentist you should take courses in:
