To The Nation

George W. Bush "A Great People Has Been Moved to Defend a Great Nation" 9/11 Attack

Four planes were highjacked on September 11th, 2001.
Two crashed into the Twin Towers in New York, one crashed into the Pentagon.
One was overtaken by American passengers and crashed in a field in Pennsylvania.
2752 lives were lost in the tragedy.
Began the war on terror
Response "A great people has been moved to defend a great nation" Firefighters 343 firefighters died on 9/11.
They saved hundreds, if not thousands more lives in their sacrifice.
George Bush
During the attacks he was in a Florida classroom reading a book to the children.
Made his Address to the Nation later that night. S.O.A.P Speaker:President Bush
Occasion: Attack on America
Audience: American People
Purpose: Calm the Nation Expository? Persuasive? Descriptive? Narrative? Why did he give this speech?

These acts shatter steel, but they cannot dent the steel of American resolve We're the brightest beacon for freedom and opportunity in the world.
And no one will keep that light from shining. Today, our nation saw evil-- the very worst of human nature-- and we responded with the best of America. With the daring of our rescue workers, with the caring for strangers and neighbors who came to give blood and help in any way they could Federal agencies in Washington... will be open for business tomorrow. The American economy will be open for business as well I ask for your prayers for all those who grieve, for the children whose worlds have been shattered, for all whose sense of safety and security has been threatened.
