Demeter had one child Persephone, goddess of the spring and sadly the underworld. Hades took Persephone from her mother Demeter. Demeter was not happy at all the she cursed the earth which made winter, all the crops were dead. However, Zeus was not happy so he brought Persephone back. Persephone had eaten food while she was there so she is also goddess of the under world. When ever Persephone comes back Spring occurs.

Demeter has both a weakness and a strength. Her weakness was depression or grieving. Her strength was being a loving mother and her character of persistence.

Demeter has three sacred birds they are shown here
Demeter is the greek goddess of the harvest and of nature. Her mother is Rhea the titan queen of the gods. Rhea is the daughter of Ouranos the sky and Gala the Earth. Demeter's father is the titan king of the gods. He is the son of Ouranos the sky and Gala the Earth. Demeter had one child, her name was Persephone the greek goddess of the spring. Demeter has 5 sibilings ; Zeus, Poseidon, Hades, Hestia, and Hera.

Demeter had two sacred plants. The mint plant and poppies. The mint plant was consumed in a drink at her temple in Eleusis. The poppies were worn as an emblem by priestesses.
