The University of Pennsylvania found an ancient Egyptian tomb that belonged to an unknown Pharaoh that ruled during 1650 B.C. The archeologist also stated that there are probably a dozen other tombs along with this one.
You should only have one god and no other god. You should always follow the Lord thy God and no one else.
The ancient Egyptians were forced to follow the Pharaoh who was also known as the king. The Pharaoh thought he was god and the people treated him like so. The commandment states that you shall have no other god, therefore the Egyptians were breaking this commandment because they bowed down to the Pharaoh like a god.
Schools all over are allowing the parents to be involved in their children's education. Parent's are helping their kids in school and encouraging them to strive for the best. The student's are grateful that their parents are trying to make a difference for their future.
This commandment is teaching every generation that they should always be thankful for their parent's support because they are raising us to be the best we can be. We should always respect and be loyal to our parents.
Since the parent's are trying to make a difference for their child's future the kids are being thankful for their parent's support. This relates to the commandment because the children are being motivated and inspired to do well in school while respecting their parent's for doing so.
While the Syrians are suffering a terrible civil war, the Israeli's have spent $17 million tending to the wounded. Even though Israel and Syria are enemies, the Israeli's still look upon them as human beings just like themselves. The Israeli Army is helping adults, children, and the elderly.
This commandment is saying that no matter who we are dealing with in our lives, we shall never respond in violence or death.
This commandment relates to the article because even though the Israeli's and Syrian's are not the closest, helping them and not allowing them to die is a better option. The Israeli's are not exactly the ones killing the Syrian's but they are not letting them suffer death.
Thieves are stealing food cargo from big companies. They are loading food onto their trucks and pretending they are the truck drivers. This has cost the country millions of dollars. This is becoming a bigger and bigger issue and is not stopping.
This commandment means that no matter what we have or do not have, we should never try to take other's possessions.
The thieves are breaking the commandment of "Thou shalt not steal". They are taking the food that is not theirs and playing it off as if it is. This is affecting not only the companies, but also the customers.
Julia Lipnitskaia won Russia their first gold medal in the Olympics. She is a 15 year old figure skater that worked hard to get where she is. She is very successful and sometimes people can become jealous of her accomplishments.
This commandment means that you should always be happy with what God has given you. No matter what everyone else has, don't be jealous and be thankful instead.
This article relates to this commandment because even though Julia was able to reach her goal and was successful, no one should envy her. Instead people should be happy for her and work harder to get to her level.
Afghan women's freedoms are being taken away from them. They are being forced to do what they are told by the men and aren't able to make their own decisions. The men are acting look at themselves like God and are making themselves look better than they are.
This commandment means that you shouldn't make yourself look and act as if you are as important as God is.
The men are making a self image of god above the women and breaking the commandment. They are taking over the women's freedoms and the women are going to lose the little freedom they are being given.
