Golden Arrow: Symbol of Pi Beta Phi fraternity Initiation and sisterhood Sisters of all pledge classes Pledge Class This house has been here since 1912 The arrow became Pi Beta Phi's symbol after it's initial finding as IC Sorosis wore it. Once a sister is initiated, it is worn over your heart with the tip pointing up. Pi Phi was solely responsible for all literacy education in the 1940s in Gatlinburg, and our efforts to help children read and achieve have just continued from there. The dance marathon is a university-wide fundraiser for Riley hospital where we spend 18 hours on our feet to help raise money for Riley children. All first-year Pi Phis are are to participate in the dance marathon so we can contribute to the funds raised for Riley. A few months after we get our bids, we get initiated and are finally able to call ourselves sisters of Pi Beta Phi.
