The Lord's Supper
The Breaking of Bread
So Jesus said
So Jesus said to them, "Truly, truly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you." - John 6:53
"For I received from the Lord what I also passed on to you: The Lord Jesus, on the night he was betrayed, took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and said, “This is my body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of me.” In the same way, after supper he took the cup, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood; do this, whenever you drink it, in remembrance of me.” For whenever you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes." -Corinthians 11:23-26
This is the bread that came down from heaven, not like the bread the fathers ate and died. Whoever feeds on this bread will live forever." - John 6:58
And likewise the cup after they had eaten, saying, "This cup that is poured out for you is the new covenant in my blood." - Luke 22:20
Why is the Eucharist the central sacrament of Christians?
The Eucharist is the central sacrament because it is actually the blood and body of Jesus, whereas the other sacraments are simply means of grace. With that however, it is also one of the three sacraments of Initiation.

THE ACT OF CHANGING THE SUBSTANCES OF BREAD AND WINE INTO SUBSTANCES OF THE BODY AND BLOOD OF CHRIST
THE PRESENCE OF THE HOLY EUCHARIST ISN'T JUST SYMBOLIC, IT'S REAL
" t o g i v e t h a n k s "
Catholics main belief about Communion is that it is the 'real presence' of Jesus. This refers to the miracle of Christ's presence in the bread and wine...or the Body and Blood.
Why is it referred to as Holy Communion by Catholics?
Because we become members of the one body of Christ when we eat of the one bread and wine. In the Eucharist, we all become one in Christ.

TO THE JEWS MEANT LIFE. IN JESUS' TIME, SERIOUS AGREEMENTS WERE OFTEN SEALED IN BLOOD. AS A RESULT, JESUS OFFERS HIS BLOOD TO SEAL THE NEW CONTRACT BETWEEN GOD AND US.
WAS A SYMBOL OF LOVE AND FRIENDSHIP. TO BREAK BREAD WITH SOMEONE WAS TO SHOW THAT YOU LOVED THEM LIKE A MEMBER OF YOUR OWN FAMILY
THE SACRAMENTS ALL HAVE SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE PASCHAL MYSTERIES..
HOW IS THE EUCHARIST REFLECTIVE OF THE PASCHAL MYSTERY?
In the second Eucharistic prayer, the priest prays, "In memory of his death and resurrection, we offer you, Father, this life-giving bread, this saving cup." Every time we celebrate he Eucharist, we honor the memory of Christ's death and resurrection.
