Transcript of Line Graph

What do you use this graph for?
All graphs have different purposes. But what is this particular graph used for? Well here is the answer to your question. Line graphs show increases and decreases. Sometimes they are used for predictions. Line graphs or broken line graphs are used to find a general pattern in collected data. There mostly used to represent 2 variables on a Cartesian plane. Line Graphs are seen being used for school, temperature, company profits, employment, sales etc.
Why Would People Use A Line Graph
People use line graphs because it is a good way to represent Increases and decreases in data, its also great to show relationships between different information. They are useful to express trends, variable, and predictions.

What Is A Line Graph
The line graph was invented by
William Playfair
(Sept. 22 1759- Feb. 11 1823). It is a type of graph with plotted points attached together by segmented lines. It is kind of similar to a scatter plot graph. You can also call this graph a
Broken Line Graph.

Introduction
Hey SJ7 and Mr. Aldoroty. The graph we are going to acknowledge you about is LINE GRAPHS. At the end we will do a survey to show you how this graph is made and to visualize the selected graph.

Here Is A Video To Tell You More
How To Make A Basic Line Graph:
The parts of a line graph are the y-axis, x-axis,scale,3 titles, and the collected data.

Step 1: Use a graph paper, ruler, and pencil to draw a big 90* L on your graph paper which is the 1st quadrant. The vertical line is the y-axis and the horizontal line is the x-axis.
Step 2: Add on the titles of your collected data and labels on each axis. Add on the scale from whatever number is needed.
Step 3:Plot the points, draw the connected lines and voila you have a line graph :).

To input various data into a line graph you have to focus on particular co-ordinates such as (9,2) you would look for the 9 on the y-axis and the 2 on the x-axis. Then you would find where the two points meet on graph paper. When you have all your points recorded you draw (with a RULER) segmented lines to show increases and decreases.

How To Read A Line Graph:
To read a line graph you have to look at where the 2 points meet. You look at the scale on the x-axis and then the scale on the y-axis. To see ups and downs review the segmented lines.
Here's An Exercise How Much You Learned
Take out a piece of graph paper and construct an actual line graph with the data we just collected. You will need to have the scale (about 1-15) on the y-axis. On the x-axis put the labels on. Plot the points from our survey. Finally use a RULER to draw the lines. This shows us the population of every monthly horoscope of our class
