Harry Potter Inspires Us All
Jimmy Butler

Harry Potter inspires us all to face our fears in many ways, by facing his fears he is constantly making his world a better place, We can do this too and make our world a better place, from risking your life for a greater cause or even the small gesture of saying hello to a person in need. By facing our fears we are making the world a better place, the change, however big, however small will make a difference to the world we live in. "I'm going to keep going until I succeed — or die. Don't think I don't know how this might end. I've known it for years."
- Harry Potter.
In this quote Harry shows his determination to win, no matter the cost, even if it results in his death, his courage inspires us to face our fears and make the world a better place.

Jimmy Butler grew up in Tomball north of Houston, it was a small town with only a population of ten-thousand. Jimmy Butler is a great basketballer, but many don't know his tragic story. He grew up fatherless his entire life and when he was fourteen his mother kicked him out of the house and told him to never return. For the next couple years Jimmy was required to find places here and there to live to avoid living on the streets. Something that gave him joy in is life was basketball, but in his Junior Year of High School he only averaged 10.2 points per game. One thing that basketball did to for Butler was give him a place to live. After a summer league game, a kid in grade 9 challenged him to a 3pt contest which Jimmy accepted and won. After the contest, Jimmy and the kid had a great friendship with Jimmy coming over to play video games and eat dinner with his family. His friends Mother, Michelle Lambert seeing her kids friendship with Jimmy let him stay with her family. Michelle was a single mother and her money situation was not that stable. It wasn't all smooth sailing for Jimmy after he was given a place to live as he had to work hard and be a role model for the younger kids
Harry realizes how important it is to face hes fears, in the third book. Harry willingly faces a Boggart (when confronted, Boggarts take the form of your worst fears). This then takes the form of a dementor which Harry learns to defeat after continually facing his fear. This is important as later on in the book he is required to stop the dementors and save multiple innocent lives

How Jimmy inspires us

Caleb Comes Back
Jimmy Butler has inspired many people around the world to face their fears as he has done so almost everyday. In Jimmy's childhood, he didn't even know when his next meal would be untill he was gifted a place to live by a family who he cherished. Now that he had a place to live, he strived to work hard and prove his place not just in the basketball world but also in his family.
After just coming back to the fight, Caleb faces a major setback. As he struggles to deal with his blindness, Caleb starts neglecting his group and crew. He eventually gets help from the force sensitive creature, Bindu. Eventually, teaming up with the rebellion, Caleb dies protecting his crew and thrawting the Empire.

Caleb inspires us all to face our fears in order to make the world a better place. He teaches us to make the world a better place.

Why is it important to face our fears?
Facing fears can be a tremendous challenge to overcome. Everyone has a different fear that impacts on their lives in different ways. After facing your fears you become more and more resilient in order to allow your life to be less impacted by fears. Here are some people who have faced their fears...
Beartrice Prior AKA Tris
Tris was born abnegation in a twisted world where she believes she doesn't belong anywhere. When she does a test to see where she belongs, her thoughts are confirmed, as she recieves mixed results, Dauntless, Abnegation and Erudite. She was divergent, a group of people prosecuted, she is helped by the tester who changes her results so she can have a chance to live.
Bob Marley’s passion for world peace and equal rights came from growing up in Jamaica with slavery, racism and glorified violence. He said this was what inspired him to try to make a difference in the world. Freedom, justice ,dignity these were three core values that made Bob Marley such an inspiration to millions. Bob Marley was a significant figure in history known for his strong passion to see peace in the world and also known for his message of equality and love encouraged in his music and actions. He inspires me to face my fears because Bob Marley was someone who lived a life without fear. In 1978 this was made evident when despite an assassination attempt he went on stage and went ahead with the One Love, Peace concert which was the very thing that had nearly killed him but he quoted ‘The people who are trying to make this world worse are not taking a day off so why should I?’ - Bob Marley. This wasn’t the only triumph that happened though because after the concert Bob Marley got the leaders of the two warring political parties in Jamaica, Manley and Edward Seaga, to shake heads. His selfless passion to make a better future for others despite what happened to him is what inspires me to face my fears.

'Fear is my only courage'
- Bob Marley
Malala Yousafzai is an advocate for women's right to an education in Pakistan.

At the age of 11, Malala began a blog where she told of her hardships whilst living in Pakistan. She wrote about how the Taliban (a political movement) were shutting down hundreds of girls schools across the county, denying them of any education.

Malala attended my galas and interviews where she openly told speeches convincing people across the world as to why women must be educated.

After years of fighting for her rights, Malala was shot it the forehead by the Taliban on her way home from one of the few Pakestanian schools that remained. But she was determined and survived. But even after numerous more death threats, Malala perservered and kept on fighting.

In 2013, Malala presented a speech to the United Nations and published her first book of many, ‘I am Malala’. She one the Nobel Peace Prize the following year for her consistent efforts towards the fight for womens education in Pakistan.

The Gladiators
Even in the early ages, people were required to face their fears. An example of this are the gladiators. In 264 BC, ancient gladiators fought in deathly battles for the enjoyment of the Roman Empire. Gladiators were men (often who had committed a crime) that fought in arenas against trained soldiers and wild animals including ferocious lions. As they had to face these dangerous foes, gladiators came into battle knowing that they would not surive and even if they did they would soon perish in the next several battles that had to be fought in order to earn their freedom. To survive the first of many deadly battles, gladiators required a lot of strength, determination and courage to face their greatest fears in the arena.

Tris Wins Her First Fight
After choosing dauntless, Tris is forced to participate in trials to ensure her place in Dauntless. If she does not succeed, she will have to endure a life in the factionless, a life of loneliness and poverty. In a test of fighting hand to hand, Tris is easily overpowered by stronger opponents. After a little help from Four, her trainer, she is able to take on one of the strongest opponents in the group by using tactics and less brute force. A feat that was would be unreachable if she hadn't faced her fears.
“All I want is an education and I am afraid of no one.”
- Malala Yousafzai
How parents and friends
help people face
their fears.
Facing fears can be a tough task for people as it is confronting to try something that scares them but something phenomenal our survey found was that majority of students in our school found the courage to face their fears thanks to everyday people such as our family, friends and teachers.

Family encourage us to face our fears by being supportive role models. Various students who reponded to our survey said that simply by having people there to push you and encourage you made all the difference.

Friends were also another group of people who played a major role in helping others face their fears. Through the survey we found that many students had been inspired by their friends actions and words. Many were thankful for their friends who had always been there to get them through.
