Matched by Ally Condie
The book Matched reminds me a lot of the Hunger Games. To me, Cassia is like Katniss who has to choose between Peeta and Gale. At the beginning of Matched you'd think she would obviously choose Xander, but as you read more in to the book, you start second guessing who Cassia will choose. The same thing happened to me as I read the Hunger Games, I thought she was in love with Gale, but as i read more, I wasn't sure who she loved. Also, the settings of both these books are in the future.
The theme of my book is defiantly romance/love triangles. I think it is this topic/theme because the book revolves around Cassia getting to know Ky and choosing who she would like to marry. I also think it is a romance book because the title is 'Matched' which is were the teenagers in her society get matched to the person who they will marry for the rest of their lives. Matched is also about finding true love which also classifies it as a romace book.
Matched is about a girl named Cassia living in a society taking place in the future. In her society you get matched to a person you will marry at age seventeen. Cassia gets matched to her best friend XanderWhen you get matched, you receive a usb type a stick with all that person's life from age 0 to that moment. Cassia didn't need this because she already knew everything about Xander. She diecided to look through it anyways and saw something strange at the end.

Its pictures of a boy who is certainly not Xander. This boy's name was Ky. At first, Cassia thought nothing of it, she was told by a woman who worked at matching people who would be best fit for them that someone must've gotten in to her's (Cassia's) data stick and added the pictures. She soon got to know Ky and started to fall in love with him more than she was with Xander. She had to make a choice and fast.
Biography Of Author
Ally Condie is a New York Times best selling author of the book Matched. Some of Ally Condie's favourite things are running, reading, writing and listening to her husband play the guitar. She went to Brigham Young University and has a degree in English Teaching. Ally Condie is a former high school English teacher in Utah and upstate New York. She currently lives outside of Salt Lake City with her husband and four children. Matched was published in November 2010 and there are two others in it's series, Crossed and Reached.
The text to world I thought of was Cassia, Ky and Xander are in a love triangle, that made me think of all the love triangles there are in the world, especially now-a-days. Love Triangles are more popular then they used to be. Many teenagers are in love triangles, like Cassia, Ky and Xander.

The setting for my book is placed somewhat in the future in a Utopian Society which is an ideal society where everything is perfect. Cassia and her family live in a province in this society. During this book the setting moves from her home, to the recreation center, followed by her Grandfather's house and many other places in her province. Mainly in the book you find her at the rec center or her home.
During this book, before her grandfather passes away, Cassia had a great relationship with him. This connects to me because I feel like I have a really good relationship with all my grandparents. Every summer, I go to New York to visit them, it reminds me when Cassia visits her grandfather after school. She also tells her grandfather everything like I tell my grandparents.
For my song I chose 'Team' by Lorde. I chose it because at the beginning she sings about girls and boys getting ready for some sort of dance or party, like the teenagers do for the Matched ceremony. They get really dressed up in fancy dresses and tuxedos. Also in the middle of the song she sings about 'living in cities which aren't pretty and living ruins' which is kind of like the society that Cassia lives in. Which is trying to be perfect, but doesn't seem like it. Also she sings that she's over doing what shes told which is like Cassia when she doesn't obey the rules by learning to write.
I chose a green dress because on the night of her Match ceremony she wore a green dress.
Symbol 2
I chose a stick because Ky was teaching Cassia to write letters in the dirt with a stick.
Symbol 3
I chose wedding rings because you get matched to the person you will marry
Symbol 4
I chose hiking shoes because she learned a lot about Ky during their hiking sessions.
Symbol 5
I chose pills because each person in the society has three pills, a green, red and blue. They each have a different things they do to you.
I would say that the person who hacked into Cassia's usb stick is the antagonist because without all that hassle she could have been happy with Xander. That person had to had a few photos of Ky at the end who which made Cassia second guess herself. That also made her have a choice between her best friend or a guy she was falling in love with. Without that hacker, she could be happy about her match with Xander and would not have to worry about picking which boy she wanted to marry and spend the rest of her life with.
I would say the protagonist is Ky because he helped make the choice for Cassia. Also he helped her with many things such as writing. I picked him because he never did anything wrong in the book. He helped Cassia in many ways as well.
