IN NOVEMBER 1776 A TROUBLING TIME FOR OUR YOUNG COUNTRY, FIGHTING FOR INDEPENDENCE AGAINST MOTHER BRITAN, AND THE WAR WASNOT GOING WELL. THEY BEAT GEORGE WASHINGTON AND HIS MEN ON LONG ISLAND, AND HAD DRIVEN THEM OUT OF NEW YORK. THE BITISH WERE PERSUING THEM TO NEW JERSEY. GEORGE WASHINGTON WAS DISCOURAGED. HOW COULD THE AMERICANS, WHO WRE MOSTLY NEW TO FIGHTING, EVER DEFEAT THE WELL TRAINED REDCOATS?

THE ATTACK
GEORGE WASHINGTON AND HIS TROOPS LEAD A SUPRISE ATTACK AGAINST THE HESSIAN FORSES BY USING 100 ROWBOATS TO CROSS THE DELEWARE RIVER AND THEN SUPRISED THEM IN THE FOREST.
