Maya Angelou Alone Alone Poem analysis Repetition Lying, Thinking
Last night
How to find my soul a home
Where water is not thirsty
And bread loaf is not stone
I came up with one thing
And I don't believe I'm wrong
That nobody
But nobody
Can make it out here alone

Alone, all alone
Nobody, but nobody
Can make it out there alone

There are some millionaires
With money they cant use
Their wives run around like banshees

They've got expensive doctors
To cure their hearts of stone
But nobody poem analysis Alone, all alone
Nobody, but nobody
Can make it out here alone Literary Devices Personification - when it says, Poem Analysis I came up with one thing

With money they cant use The speaker repeats Their children sing the blues
No, nobody
Can make it out here alone

Now if you listen closely
I'll tell you what I know
Storm clouds are gathering
The wind is gonna blow
The race of man is suffering
And I can bear the moan,
'Cause nobody,
But nobody
Can make it out here alone.

by: Maya Angelou That nobody,
But nobody
Can make it out here alone. After searching for an answer the speaker is
confident they've found the answer. The speaker feels alone and
realizes they need someone to
share their life with, to be happy Their solution is that people need other people.
They repeat nobody twice to emphasize the fact that they believe everyone needs someone. Either family or friends. Stating it again, the speaker is also including herself in the idea that nobody can make it alone. You would expect millionaires to be
happy, and have what they want. Their
money isolates them more.
They're saying that money can't
buy you everything. Their wives married them for their money, or cheat on them . They feel isolated even though they have a family. Even their children are sad. They want to cure their loneliness.
They want a heart that feels. Through their own experience, they've gained knowledge, and want to share what they've learned. Comparing their feelings to a storm. Alluding to a serious situation. No matter who you are or what you have, everyone experiences the same feelings. Ending with the fact that there is no real solution, because everyone had to be happy in there own way. In a place where their happy, and there is
no loneliness. Alone, all alone
Nobody, but nobody
Can make it out there alone To emphasize the message of the poem
that is that you cant go thru life completely alone, There is not a set rhyme scheme for the whole poem, but when the speaker says; with money they cant use
Their wives run around like banshees
Their children sing the blues Its a AB AB rhyme scheme Their wives run around like banshees comparing their wives to banshees. Alliteration alone all alone Where water is not thirsty Tone I think the tone is sad and troubles, but the speaker is also urging man kind to change their ways Why I Chose This Poem I chose the poem alone by: Maya Angelou because,

I like Angelou's work and wanted to find a deeper meaning.

I liked how she used repetition and imagery in the poem.

Voice Speaker The voice is thoughtful, and
warning the reader not to make the same mistake they made. never specifies if its a man or woman, it could be either.
