Three Beautifuls ÜÇ GÜZELLER Kapadokya Pers dilinde “Güzel Atlar Ülkesi” anlamına gelir. Kapadokya deyince de akla peribacaları gelir. Milyonlarca yıl önce, Erciyes, Melendiz ve Hasan Dağından zaman zaman lavlar püskürdü. Bu lav tabakaları Kapadokya’yı kapladı. Suların ve rüzgârın tüflerden oluşan yapıyı aşındırmasıyla peribacaları oluşmuştur. Cappadocia means “country of beautiful horses” in persian language. When it is told ‘’Cappadocia’’ , in peoples’ mind comes fairy chimneys. Million years ago,The volkanes of Erciyes, Melendiz, and Hassan mountains erupted. The layer of lava covered Cappadocia. Wind and rainwater flowingdown the sides of valleys eroded the tuff structure and sculpted the formations known as “fairy chimneys” Kapadokya’nın en tanınmış peribacaları olan Üç güzeller, Ürgüp’ün sembolüdür. Üç Güzeller that is the most famous fairy chimneys of cappadocia is the symbol of Ürgüp. There is also Üç Güzeller on Ürgüp Municipality’s Logo. These three Fairy Chimneys are commented as mother, father and child. The big fairy chimneys which are on the next step are known as grandmother and grandfather. Also, Üç Güzeller is known as Çatalkaya. According to the legend, a king’s daughter who lives in Cappadocia gets married with a shepherd. The king doesn’t forgive them although they have a child. When the princess escapes from the soldiers of the king, she prays to the God: “please, my God, make us either a stone or a bird.” The God accepts their prayer and they immediately turn into a Stone. So, these three fairy chimneys (Üç Güzeller) are known as the princess, her husband and her child.
