3. What is the specific species of sea turtle we rescued? Use the common name, not the scientific name.
1. How will you determine the turtle's:
Species- You have to look at the size of them, male & females are normally the same size. The shells will help you determine the type of sea turtle too.

Sex- Adult males have longer& thicker tails than females because the male reproductive organ is housed in the base of the tail. The males tail may extend beyond the hind flippers.

Age- Turtles have about a 50-80-year lifespan. Currently there is not a sufficient method to tell the age of sea turtles. You should study the growth rings of the scales on the carapace and plastron& use a mathematical formula to estimate a turtle's age.

Alertness- Try to touch the soft spots on their shell & flipper. Try to put shrimp in their water to see if they’re able to still sense & smell it.
2. Around Florida, what are the most common reasons for turtles to become sick or injured?
Raccoons seem to like to grab turtle eggs.

Lights that are on coastal highways or house developments confuse the hatchlings that are emerging, causing them to move away from the water and be killed by cars.
Loggerhead sea turtles also know as Caretta caretta.
4. Using the information from question #3, what type of food will we need to feed our rescued turtle?
Loggerheads diet consists primarily of crabs, molluscs, shrimps, jellyfish, and vegetation.
5.Will our sea turtle need a source of freshwater? Explain why or why not.
Sea turtles have no need for a freshwater source. They obtain enough water from their diet and from metabolizing seawater.
6. How should the turtle be housed during its rehabilitation? Our turtle will need an enclosure 10 times its full grown size with the correct temperature of water. You will need to calculate the size using the type of turtle we found.
Well since the loggerhead can handle almost any temperature of water you can have it any in rehabilitation, preferably warm though. Loggerheads- 32-41 inch’s & 146-223 pounds
