studied effect of instrumental music on endocrine(ACTH, cortisol) & immune (immunoglobulin A) systems plus amount of sedative (Propofol) needed during and after total hip replacement/gynecological surgeries using spinal anesthesia (epidurals)

found that the group given music during surgery needed less Propofol than the control group to reach the same level of sedation
