"I have the gift of neither the spoken nor the written word, especially if I have to say something about myself or my work. Whoever wants to know something about me -as an artist, the only notable thing- ought to look carefully at my pictures and try and see in them what I am and what I want to do."

Today, they stand out as the more important paintings ever to come out of Vienna.
Klimt created landscapes that depict nature as an ideal image of harmony and equillibrium to invite meditation on the timeless beauty of the scene. http://www.gustavklimtcollection.com/pages/poppy.html http://www.expo-klimt.com/2.cfm At the age of 14, Klimt enters the Vienna Public Art School. Noticed for his talents, he receives his first commissions while studying. Gustav was the 2nd of 7 children of a por engraver and craver. His brother Earnest who died very young could have been just as talented as he was if he hadn't died so young. His brother Georg was a very talented sculpter and craver who made many of the Frames for Gustav's paontings. http://www.expo-klimt.com/2.cfm Work Cited.. http://www.expo-klimt.com/2.cfm
