Transcript of Our World Film Festival

What is OWFF?
Our World International Short Film Challenge
Our World Live
OUR GOAL
The Our World Film Festival aims to unleash a
new wave of creativity
among the next generation of
storytellers
and unite people around the world through
film and music!
WHY?
You might be wondering why a chamber orchestra is organising a Film Festival?

ARDESKO is on a mission to get more
young people
inspired by classical music and make classical music more accessible to
new audiences
. In 2013 we launched stage one of
Project Our World
- the crowdfunded
Our World CD
recording. With CD's in hand we're ready to roll out the next exciting phase of the project, the Our World Film Festival!

OUR WORLD SHORT FILM CHALLENGE
The OWSFC is open to individuals and groups under the age of
26
. There is
no
fee for participation in the SFC.
WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
Participants need to create an
original
and
compelling
short film based on one of the tracks from the Our World CD. These tracks will be digitally available at no cost for participants.

The film should have a
powerful storyline
and reflect on the issues, dreams, or hopes which shape the participants lives and the world around us. The style is open to the imagination and can include animation.
THE BIG CHALLENGE!
The OWSFC is no ordinary film competition, in the Our World films classical
music
will completely
replace dialogue.
This will encourage young film makers to approach storytelling in a unique way, creatively exploring the relationships between
music
,
image
,
drama
and
emotion
.

As the film makers will be required to use the music track of their choice in its'
entirety
, music will become an integral part of the film making process; a guide which brings
structure
to the story and not something that is added as an afterthought.
ADULT ASSISTANCE?
To help first-time film makers to enter the OWSFC, school and youth
groups
may be assisted by one adult over the age of 26 in the production of their film. Content and story must be entirely developed by the participants.
WHO CAN ENTER?
WHEN & WHERE?
The Our World Short Film Challenge will be run
online
from the new multilingual project website (under construction).

PROMOTION
The call for entries, information and files for participants will be available from the end of 2014. The SFC will be
open for submissions
from the
mid
-
January
2015 until the
mid
-
April
2015.

Judging will take place in
May
2015.
In addition to extensive
online
promotion, the Short Film Challenge will be promoted by
promotional partners
in more than 20 countries around the world. OWFF promotional partners include:
secondary schools
community colleges
film schools
other non-profit and commerical organisations working with film
Traditional media channels of radio, television and newspaper will also be engaged in key countries.
JUDGING
The OWSFC will be judged by a high profile jury comprising at least 12 international jury members including:
film directors, composers and critics
film stars
musicians
To promote
social sharing
of videos and online interaction, there will also be a audience prize for the video with the most public votes online.
PRIZES
The OWSFC will have
11 categories
, one for each piece of Our World music. In addition to prizes being awarded for the
best film in each category
, the following special prizes will be awarded:
• Best OWFF film
• Best film under 16 years
(individual)
• Animation prize
• Best film by a group
• Public prize
The prizes (a mix of cash and film making related products) will be awarded at the special premiere live performance to be held in Amsterdam in
June 2015
.
OUR WORLD LIVE
WHAT IS OUR WORLD LIVE?
Our World Live is a

without intermission and can be booked from
July 2015
.
OUR WORLD LIVE EVENTS

• film, music or arts festivals

• open air events
• concert halls
• corporate events
TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS
To host a Our World Live event you'll need:

Large or outdoor venues may require amplification for the musicians depending on the acoustics of the location.
ARDESKO
Ardesko is an international chamber orchestra based in the Netherlands. A bit like a mini United Nations, the top young professional musicians of the orchestra share 17 nationalities and speak 15 languages.

Through innovative programming, education and a diverse range of activities Ardesko strives to break down the barriers surrounding classical music. The orchestra can be found performing everywhere from famous concert halls such as the
Amsterdam Concertgebouw
to community centres, leading arts festivals like the
Grachten Festival
, as well as unexpected places in the community such as
nursing homes
and
train stations
.
THE MUSIC
Like the musicians of Ardesko, the Our World music comes from around aal corners of the globe. It conveys a wide range of emotions, moods and styles and is an excellent introduction to classical music for new listeners of all ages. Here's the full list of compositions:
OWFF WORKSHOPS
The Our World Film Festival event will feature a number of workshops and masterclasses for film makers, composers and musicians at various stages of their careers.
