Melville Louis Kossuth Dewey
1851 - 1931
He shortened it to Melvil Dewey.

At 21, he invented the Dewey Decimal Classification (DDC) system (copyright
1876). It remains the most widely used
library organizational scheme in the world.
Librarians came up with all sorts of ways to organize books in their libraries:
Divides all topics in the world into 10 categories and numbers them so that books on the same topic are shelved together.
