Transcript of Eukarotic cell!

The cell is "A maze" ing The Eukaryotic Cell The Nucleus The nucleus is a membrane bound structure that contains the cell's hereditary information, and controls the cells growth and reproduction. The nucleus is the "mind" of the cell. Vacuole A vacuole is a membrane-bound vesicle found in the cytoplasm of a
Eukaryotic cell. Vacuoles remove unwanted substances from the cell.
They isolate materials that may be harmful. Vacuoles serve a variety
of secretory, excretory, and storage functions. Lysosome Lysosomes act as the "digester." Lysosomes recycle the cell's organic material and the digestion of macromolecules. They break down waste materials. Ribosomes Endoplasmic Reticulum Rough Endoplasmic Reticulum The Rough ER is important in the synthesis and packaging of proteins. Proteins are found on the surface of the Rough ER. Ribosomes are attached to the membrane of the ER. As the ribosomes builds, the amino acid chain is forced into the Rough ER. Mitochondria The mitochondria is considered the power plant of the cell. Mitochondria converts the chemical energy stored in food into compound that are more convenient for the cell to use. They are the sites where cellular respiration occurs, which generates "fuel" of the cells activities. Eukaryotic Cell Eukaryotic cells have a membrane bound nucleus. They have many complex organisms inside the cell. They have a nuclear membrane and organelles. The Eukaryotic cell is a complex membrane bound cell. The Cell is
like a Functioning mainly as a factory for making and shipping proteins and lipids, the ER is a network of hollow tubes, extending off of the nuclear membrane. Ribosomes are the protein builders of the cell. They connect one amino acid at a time and build long chains. Ribosomes are small particles of RNA and protein found through the cytoplasm. Smooth Endoplasmic Reticulum The Smooth ER acts as a storage organelle. Its called a Smooth ER because ribosomes are not found on its surface. They are important in the storage and creation of steroids. It also stores ions in case the cell will need them at a later time. Golgi Apparatus The Golgi Apparatus modifies, sorts, and packages proteins for secretion. Its called the "post office." Packages proteins and lipids and are synthesized by the cell. It is also involved in the transportation of lipids around the Eukaryotic cell. Cell Membrane The cell membrane is a semi-permeable membrane that surrounds the cytoplasm of the cell. It protects the cell. The cell membrane allows only some substances to enter and to exit. Its composed of a mixture of proteins and lipids.
