For example some prokaryotes were digested or could have been internal parasites.
There are two types of endosymbiosis: primary & secondary. Scientists found that mitochondria & purple aerobic bacteria share similar traits & functions.
Chloroplasts are very similar to a photosynthetic bacteria because they have similar chlorophyll.
The plain fact that mitochondria & chloroplasts have any genetic information of their own argues in the favor of this theory. The overall concept: Mitochondria: Chloroplast: Contradicting evidence: This theory does not explain the emergence of non-plastid type organelles like the Golgi apparatus and the endoplasmic reticulum. Golgi apparatus: Endoplasmic reticulum: How it relates to the ''How Life Began'' theory: Endosymbiosis relates to cells and the fact that they only arise from pre-existing cells.
