Alan Greenspan Where Is Alan Greenspan From? Alan was Born in the Washington Heights neighborhood of Manhattan, New york City Alan Greenspans' Family/Connections Alan Greenspan was born to Herbert Greenspan & Rose Goldsmith Alans' Father was a Stockbroker His Mother was a Furniture Saleswoman Schooling As a young man, Greenspan attended the Julliard School When his friends and bandmates went out partying, greenspan prefered to stay in his room and read economics texts & business books. With his knack for numbers, Greenspan quickly found himself doing his friends and bandmates taxes as well as keeping the books for his band. Work History Greenspan worked briefly as an economist with the National Industrial Conference board Later He opened an economic consulting firm with Brader William Townsend - Called "Townsend, Greenspan, & Company." Philosophy Greenspan used the Monetary Policy to steer the economy through multiple calamities & ultimate through one of the longest economic booms in history. Monetary Policy the process a government, central bank, or monetary authority of a country uses to control the supply of money, availability of money, and cost of money or rate of interest to attain a set of objectives oriented towards the growth and stability of the economy. Accomplishments Greenspan won respect in responding to BLack Monday, the stock market crash on October 28, 1987. Greenspan weathered the First Gulf War & the recession that followed in 1990 & 1991; the dot-com bubble the burst in the 2000; & the housing boom that collapsed just after he left the fed.
