Tastee Freez
Tastee Freez is a restaurant that was popular for their frozen treats in Tulsa Oklahoma in the late 50s and 60s later turned into a Dairy Queen. In the movie it was a Dairy Queen but Rob Bowe says it is a Tastee Freeze from his experience. ("The Outsiders" Movie, Shot in Tulsa, Page 1.")

Drive in Movies
drive in movies were a very popular hobby in the 1960s. They started being built in the late 40s and 50s. A drive in movie was the perfect happy medium of being in you're own space but also feeling like your in a theater. This made them a wildley popular Friday night activity.

cruising the strip
"Go down any popular cruising strip in Oklahoma – say, Tulsa’s Memorial Drive – on any given weekend after the sun goes down, and the lanes are crowded with kids cruising and parking lots full of teens just hanging out." ("Dragging The Strip.") Cruising down the streets were considered the thing to do in the 1960s. Today, times in the car are spent on our phones.

The boys wore trousers or casual slacks like khakis; no jeans. Some boys wore ties with their shirts, but this was not mandatory.
The girls woredresses or skirts and blouses only. No trousers or slacks of any kind.

Boston Avenue United Methodist Church

Completed in 1929, is considered to be one of the finest examples of ecclesiastical Art Deco architecture in the United States, and has been placed on the National Register of Historic Places.
Built by a congregation of the Methodist Episcopal Church, South, it was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1999.

Harwelden Home

The Harwelden Home was originally the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Palmer Harwell. Completed in 1926, the home is the only Collegiate Gothic English Tudor style of architecture in Tulsa.

: They are known for their greased back hair using hair wax or oil.The term for an "extreme" greaser is the stone greaser. They ride motorcycles and wear leather jackets, fitted t-shirts(usually white), jeans with rolled up cuffs, and motorcycle boots or black converse. they are influenced by Elvis Presley, Marlon Brando, and James Dean
Socs(Socials)
: They are known for being social butterflies.They are the typical rich kids with all of the fancy clothes and nice cars. They are high in the high school social status and are very proper. They wear button up t-shirts, ties, high pants, and nerd glasses
Hippies
: They live the bohemian life style with their independent and free spirits. They are the rejected mass production and their roles are predicted by society. They dress in theatrical clothing, folk dress, and recycled clothing. They have a psychodelic style which included the use of drugs.
Jocks
: The athletes of the gangs. The typical muscular people who aren't very smart. They can be aggresive and arrogant. They are egotistical, stuck up, and self centered. They are usually the bullies of the school. They wear letterman jackets and sports clothing.
