Extension of Classroom activity Doing activities in class that promote curious thinking has helped Dominique in deciding to be a Sharpe Community Scholar at William and Mary. As a scholar, she will be conducting independent, community based research. This requires curiosity. Being an inquirer during the Celebration of Learning project has helped Madeleine think about activities that she will be involved in during college. Being curious about and looking into divestment has sparked her interest in the divestment campaign at William & Mary. By developing her natural curiosity for biology, Robin has decided to go to college to study Marine Science with a focus in Marine Biology. Her school even owns an island off the coast of Myrtle Beach where Marine Science students can do field research! Extension of Classroom Activity Weighing the pros and cons of GMOs made us grow in awareness about what we ate and as GMOs are not going away any time soon, this will aid our understanding of the world around us.
Learning about GMOs also helped us make a personal decision in regards to GMOs. NON-GMO GMO Extension of Classroom Activity Being a communicator will help Madeleine beyond the classroom because she wants to be an environmental lobbyist. She will have to apply her communication skills to talk to people who disagree with her and negotiate. Being a communicator will help Robin beyond the classroom not just with other people, but also with animals. She wants to become an animal trainer after she graduates from college and hopes to communicate her talents and the talents of sea mammals to appreciative audiences everywhere. Being a communicator will help Dominique beyond the classroom as she will need to communicate in her future career both in English and another language. Being a communicator will also be essential as she is currently planning on entering the foreign service, a career which requires tactful, diplomatic communication. Extension of Classroom Activity Being in IB Biology, we had to balance the class with our extracurricular activities.
Madeleine had track practice, Robin and Dominique had the Musical, and Robin had color guard.
