How did he become prime
minister?
The Macdonald goverment fell due to the pacific scandal in 1873. The govermor general (lord Duffin) called Mackenzie who was chosen to be their leader for the liberal party.
CAREERS!
In Canada, Alexander Mackenzie continued his career as a stonemason. He was building structures that still stand today. After he began working as a general contractor, which earned him a very good reputation for being a good hard working, honest man.
