By Iain Parks Roscoe C. GIles Background Education what did he do? Fun Facts Physicist and engineering professor Roscoe C. Giles was born on April 6, 1949 in Oakland, California to Roscoe C. Giles, Jr. and Virginia Elizabeth Gaines. Giles went to the University of Chicago Laboratory Schools from kindergarten through high school, and graduating in 1966.
he later received his Bachelor's degree at the University of Chicago
he later moved to Stanford University and received a master's degree in physics, and broke the color barrier by being the first african american to receive a Ph.D in physics at Stanford. +Mr.Giles is famous for advancing the computing world with teaching and learning more about super computers and how they work.
*Supercomputers are the computers used by the national weather service and are much bigger than the computer you have at home
+ The Computing Research Association awarded Giles the A. Nico Habermann Award. In 2004, the Career Communications Group selected Giles as one of the 50 Most Important Blacks in Research Science. *as said before Mr.Giles does have a twitter (@sundancevh)
