Heads up Question up

"…..I realized something: I would not leave Afghanistan without finding Sohrab" (Hosseini 268).

"Farid was a man in his element. He had become much chattier since our overnight stay at Wahid's house. He had me sit in the passenger seat and looked at me when he spoke. He even smiled once or twice" (Hosseini 256).

Amir and Farid drive from Jalalabad to Kabul
On the way to Kabul, Amir sees signs of war
Amir and Farid arrive at Jadeh Maywand
A Taliban patrol of bearded men with guns pass by.

Zaman tells Amir and Farid where to find Sohrab

My connection is......
"We walked past rooms with no floor covering but matted carpets and windows shuttered with sheets of plastic.Skeleton frames of steel beds, with no mattress."(Hosseini 266)

"Returning to Kabul was like running into an old, forgotten friend and seeing that life hadn't been good to him."
(Hosseini 258)

But like poet says: "How seamless seemed love and then came trouble!"(Hosseini 261)
Amir and Farid drive to Wazir Akbar district and see a man selling his leg.
Amir recognizes how him and Hassan had found a little turtle in the yard.
Amir see that Baba's house as disfigured.
Amir and Farid passed the night in a hotel.
Amir and Farid watched an official taliban murdering a woman and a man on the name of God.

"The red trucks entered the playing field, rode toward one end in twin clouds of dust, sunlight reflecting off their hubcaps."(Hosseini 282)

"The pomegranate tree hadn't borne fruit in years."(Hosseini 276)

"Did that make me look nervous?"
(Hosseini 287)

"Afganistan is like a beautiful mansion littered with garbage, and someone has to take out the garbage."(Hosseini 298)

"Sohrab had the slingshot pointed to Assef's face."(Hosseini 304)

"My body was broken-just how badly I wouldn't find out until later but I felt healed.Healed at last.I laughed."(Hosseini 289)

"The impact had cut your lip in two. Like a harelip" ( Hosseini 312).

"There is something wrong with my mouth.I hear a bubbling sound.I fade out" (Hosseini 308).

Change in world with time happens either good or not.
I went to my Uncle's house after a long time and there was a lot of change in their surroundings and their house.

Dr. Rasul/The old beggar:

“…..We used to sit and talk after class. The last time was on a rainy day just before final exams when we shared a marvelous slice of almond cake together. Almond cake with hot tea and honey. She was rather obviously pregnant by then, and all the more beautiful for it. I will never forget what she said to me that day” (Hosseini 262).

"I haven't been paid in over six months. I'm broke because I've spent my life's savings on this orphanage. Everything I ever owned or inherited I sold to run this godforsaken place. You think I don't have family in Pakistan or Iran? I could have run like everyone else. But I didn't. I stayed because of
" (Hosseini 270).

"I found what I was looking for. The carving had dulled, almost faded altogether, but it was still there: "Amir and Hassan. The Sultans of Kabul." I traced the curve of each letter with my fingers..." (Hosseini 277)
" What mission is that?" I heard myself say. "Stoning adulterers? Raping children? Flogging women for wearing high heels? Massacring Hazaras? All in the name of Islam?" The words spilled suddenly and unexpectedly came out before I could yank the leash. I wished I could take them back. Swallow them. But they were out" (Hosseini 298).

"Sohrab's eyes flicked to me. They were slaughter sheep's eyes. They even had the mascara-I remembered how, on the day of
, the mullah in our backyard used to apply mascara to the eyes of the sheep and feed it a cube of sugar before slicing its throat. I thought I saw pleading in Sohrab's eyes" (Hosseini 298).

" I kept laughing and laughing because suddenly I knew that had been a message from God: He was on
He wanted me to live for a reason
" (Hosseini 297).

"Can I ask you for one more favor?"
"For you a thousand times over," Farid said. And, just like that, I was crying. I hitched gusts of air, tears gushing down my cheeks, stinging the raw flesh of my lips."
"Whats the matter?" Farid said, alarmed" (Hosseini 319).

"Sohrab and I played panjpar most of the next day, again in silence. And the day after that. We hardly spoke, just played panjpar, me propped in bed..." (Hosseini 322)

Dr. Faruqi/Armand:
"The name of the man with the Clark Gable mustache turned out to be Dr. Faruqi. He wasn't an opera star at all, but a head-and-neck surgeon, I kept thinking of him as someone named Armand in some steamy soap set on a tropical island" (Hosseini 309-310).

• Amir escapes with Sohrab and Farid, and is hospitalized in Peshawar
• Amir has dreams of memories… Wakes up and gets glimpses of his surroundings but passes out again
• Vague images Amir saw when he gained consciousness were of the doctors at the hospital and Farid
• Amir’s medical condition is described
• Amir and Sohrab bonds through a card game, panjpar, but minimal converse
• Farid suggests that Peshawar is not a place to stay
• Rahim Khan is noticed to have gone (not in the sense of passing away, but just leaving)
• A letter was left for Amir from Rahim Khan, which spills out truths and feelings
• The American couple, John and Betty Caldwell, whose supposedly be running an orphanage in Peshawar was figured to not exist
• Fear eats away at Amir and he decides to leave for Islamabad, with Sohrab, and Farid still driving

• Dreams and Memories
• Fear
• Redemption

My connection is ......

"She says her name is Aisha, "like the prophet's wife..." (Hosseini 308)

"...When the nurse spoke to him again, he just spun around and left" (Hosseini 314).

“Where is Aisha? I wanted her to smile at me, wanted her soft hands in mine” (Hosseini 310).
