Advantages and Disadvantages
of Behaviorist Teaching/Coaching When would it be useful?

Dangerous situations
Beginners
Simple motor skills
Depends on class/pupils
Importance of the subject matter / correct mechanical performance
External Pressure Aspects of learning occur in the mind
and a change of behaviour is not
a reliable indicator of learning
(Adams, 2006). Improved practical performance
may indicate learning, it could be
argued understanding, reasoning
and higher order thinking and l
earning are neglected (Butler, 2005). Learning? Children learn best when they
are active, seek solutions to problems,
experiment and talk (Adams, 2006).
