Generally speaking, the economy in the 1950s was looking up and growing in leaps and bounds

This was the decade where we saw the rise of consumerism
Truman was president at the start of the decade and witnessed the start of the Korean War

Eisenhower was the president for the rest of the decade, signed the armistice agreement and did a bunch of great things for America

Elvis & Rock and Roll

Eisenhower used the government to keep a close watch on the economy and was very careful about balancing the budget

The first credit card came out during this decade and led to a rise in borrowing and purchasing on credit

Joe McCarthy went on anti-communist rants and accused General George Marshall of aiding communists
1950 Brooklyn Dodgers signed Jackie Robinson
Board games such as Candy Land became popular in the 50s

Was born on May 31 1930 in San Francisco CA he is still alive . Some of his movies from the 50s are Revenge of the Creature, Tarantula, Escapade in Japan
Jonny Cash
He was born in February 26, 1932 in Kingsland AR he died on September 12, 2003 in Nashville TN was a song writer and actor, also an author. Is widely considered one of the most influential American musicians of the 20th century some songs of his are I Walk The Line Flosom Prison Blues and Get Rhythm
John Wayne:
He was born may 26, 1907 in Winterset LA. His real name is Marion Robert Morris. Was an American flim actor and producer. Had movies some from the 50s are The Quiet Man, Rio Grande and Rio Bravo
