Transcript of Circulatory and Lymphatic System

The relationship between the cardiovascular and lymphatic system is much like the relationship between two trains on a railway system. Both trains remove cargo - blood removes carbon dioxide, lymph vessels remove waste - and can also take on cargo - lymph vessels transport lymph, and the blood vessels carry nutrients, oxygen, and hormones.
A main function of the trains is to take on another's cargo to transport it elsewhere - like the plasma in blood is transported in lymph.
The trains differ in speed (lymph is transported more slowly than blood for example) and differ in cargo (blood vessels carry blood, lymphatic vessels carry lymph), and at different points the rails would intersect (through capilliaries).
The cardiovascular system and lymphatic system are technically two systems that make up the circulatory. They are two essential parts that functions for waste removal and blood circulation. Both of these systems work similarly - they make liquid substances, blood and lymph, and transport them through various vessels and ducts to the parts of the body where they are needed.
Another one of the ways that the circulatory and lymphatic system work together, although not pleasant, is to create cancer. Lymphatic vessels and lymph are so widely spread over the body that they will sometimes carry cancer cells into the blood, and from there the cells will go to the other parts of the body. This process is known as metastasis.
An individual's lymphatic and circulatory system work together to provide lymph for the body. Lymph is produced and carried in the lymphatic vessels to the lymphatic ducts, and finally it empties into the circulatory system's subclavian veins. Blood plays an important role in creating lymph - the plasma in blood becomes interstitial fluid when it comes into contact with body tissues. Some of this fluid enters lymphatic vessels, where it is transformed into lymph. One of the main functions of the lymphatic system is to drain interstitial fluid from tissues.
The Lymphatic System
The lymphatic system is a part of the circulatory system and functions to remove waste and compromises a network of lymphatic vessels that carries a clear liquid called lymph directly towards the heart.
The Circulatory System
The function of the circulatory system is to pump blood all around the body to where it's needed. The blood contains nutrients, oxygen, hormones and carbon dioxide, all of which are circulated between the cells and transported to where they're needed.

The main parts of the circulatory system include the heart, blood, and blood vessels. Blood consists of four main parts - plasma (liquid portion of blood), white blood cells (fight infection), red blood cells (transport oxygen through haemoglobin), and platelets (help to clot the blood).
The main parts of the lymphatic system consists of the lymphatic organs (where lymph is produced e.g. the spleen), lymph (the liquid transported), and lymphatic vessels (transports lymph).
