American Revolution By Harrison & Anniston Battles Culture Songs Art When and Where Who Causes The Start The American Revolution started in 1775. It was a war between the 13 colonies and the British. The war lasted for eight straight years and finally ended in 1783.
This Revolution 1st took military action in Massachusetts , but this revolution was mainly on the East Coast of what is now the United States. The American Revolution started in 1775. It started because the Americans wanted to be independent from Great Britain. They won independence from the Treaty of Paris. The Treaty of Paris allowed them to become independent. The Americans being independent made the British mad and made the Americans feel that they were supposed to be treated the same as the British. John Adams was a famous Boston lawyer who defended 5 british soliders that were accused. This helped many people believe there could be a revolution. The American Revolution was a war against the Kingdom of Great Britain and the Thirteen Colonies The American Revolution had many important battles that happened in many places in America. One of the most known battles is the battle of Yorktown in 1781. In this battle were two Belligerents that fought against each other. The two Belligerents were Americans and French against the British. Several thousands of soldiers marched to Yorktown. On October 19th, the British surrendered and the Americans captured 8,000 soldiers, 214 pieces of field artillery, and thousands of muskets. It was the last battle of the American Revolutionary war. Another important battle was the battle of Saratoga. The battle of Saratoga was the turning point of the American revolutionary war. This battle encouraged the French to make alliances with the Americans. In this battle, the British and German were fighting against the Americans. The Americans forced the British to surrender. Some songs that were popular were "Yankee Doodle", "The Liberty Song", and "The Free American", during the American Revolution. One very popular painting during the American Revolution was by Emanuel Gottlieb Leutze. Leutze showed a painting on how hero's of American Revolution were "transformed". This revolution was like no other because it strengthened the economy. After this revolution, some countries had encouraged them to fight for independence since the American Revolution was successful to getting independence. After the American Revolution, a new nation was built and made a large political effect on the world. Since the American Revolution caused the change of culture, it also changed literature. During the American Revolution, there were many famous authors that influenced the revolution.
