Her first draft of One for the Murphys, her debut novel, received the Tassy Walden Award for New Voices in Children's Literature. She lives in Connecticut with her husband, two children, an impetuous beagle, and a beagle-loathing cat. Important Event #1 Picture of Author Back of book Twelve-year-old Carley Connors can take a lot. Growing up in Las Vegas with her fun-loving mother, she's learned to be tough. But she never expected a betray that would land her in foster care. When she's placed with the Murphy's a lively family with three boy's, she's blindsided. Do happy families really exist? Carley knows she could never belong in their world, so she keeps her distance.
It's easy to stay suspicious of Daniel, the brother who is almost her age and is resentful she's there. But Mrs. Murphy makes her feel heard and seem determined to work their way into her heart. Before she knows it, Carley is protecting the boys from a neighborhood bully and even teaching Daniel how to play baseball. Then just when she feels like she could truly be one of the Murphys, news from her mother shakes her world. Never show your fear
This quote was one of the few things that Carley's mother ever told her. someday, Carley, you're going to have to relize that being angery at the whole world only hurts you.
This qoute is important because it is true to life. This quote is important because Carley still dont like the murphys that much and it would make her wierd. Call Jack. Call him at the station and tell him to meet us at the hospital. This part of the book is important because when Michael Eric was having his seizure, Carley has to take matters into her own hands to take care of the other two boys. Michael Eric... is he ok.
This quote shows that Carey loves Michael Eric and is very worried about him. The overalls kid steps up. "Michael Eric is a baby. He needs his bwother to help him" he said in a baby voice.

This event is important because right after this Carley steps in a makes him leave the Murphys alone. "Putting out fires, huh? Like the socks going up in flames in the bottom of the ninth. An ocean couldnt put out that fire!" "I heard that!" mr. murphy yells from the family room.

Toni likes to mess around with Mr. Murphy. Mr. Murphy likes the The red socks but hate the yankee's. Toni hates the red socks but loves the yankee's "Daniel has a game tonight. It would be nice if you would go."

Carley helped Daniel practice basketball after the first time he failed, but since she helped him he is now on the basketball team. When Daniel goes in, he takes a shot from behind the arc, I swear I stopped breathing as it sailed up. SWISH!

Carley was so proud of him. He worked hard to get to where he is at and he should be thanking Carley for all the help she gave him. Mr. and Mrs. Murphy are dancing.

This part of the book shows that they are so glad that there family is suceeding that they felt they should dance. The Theme for this story is family, Carleys family was like ripped away from her. Now that she met the Murphys she feels like she belongs there. Release Date: May 10, 2012
