“Whoever performs Hajj solely for the sake of God and, in the course of it, abstains from sensuality and disobedience, he returns from there as immaculate as a new born child.” “When a person performing the Hajj slaughters an animal, it saves him from the fire of hell.” TIPS -Never forget your true intention for performing Hajj
-Take a copy of the Quran
-Take lots of patience and absorb the beautiful feeling of being in the heart of Islam
-Follow the advice of your experienced group leaders
-Don’t worry about material needs, everything you need is available at your doorstep at Mecca and Madina including medicines, clothes, food, sleeping bags, chairs/stools, etc.
-Take light luggage only, plenty of shopping over there during free time to fill your return trip bags
-Take precautions in safeguarding your valuables Procedure of Hajj
-Infections are common during Hajj .
-People from all over the world bring with them all kinds of infections, and the unavoidable closeness of the hundreds of thousands of pilgrims makes easy spread of these illnesses.
-Little sleep from the course of Hajj exerts everyone .
- Getting and staying in good shape by regular exercise before hajj is a good idea .
-You can also carry certain medicines with you for use later. Continuation... Carry supply of over-the-counter drugs such as :
ASPIRIN, TYLENOL, ADVIL or ALEVE (for pain)
TYLENOL PM (as a sleep-aid)
BENGAY, ASPERCREME (for muscular pain)
PEPTOBISMOL, IMMODIUM (for diarrhea)
EMETROL (for nausea)
COUGH DROPS, MULTI-VITAMINS, BAND-AIDS, ANTI-BACTERIAL CREAM (for cuts)
-Most medicines are available over the counter in Saudi Arabia, and even pharmacists readily prescribe medication.
-don't bring very valuable items that could be lost
-bring a personal first aid kit
-bring a signed letter from your doctor with all your medical conditions and medicines you use
-take cough syrup, Advil or Tylenol
-avoid being exposed to the heat to much, so bring sun block and an umbrella
-carry emergency phone numbers ex. police, relatives, doctor, and any other important numbers
-bring important documents wit you
-Stay with the group since they are many people(Massive crowds)
-Be careful of your Heath(wear a mask)
-Get your rest to be fully concentrated hte next day -ihram (two pieces of white clothing)
-update your will and bring it
-documents you will need for the trip
-container for zamzam -Take a sufficient amount of money for different needs.
- Always take a bit more than needed because there can always be a need for extra money .(For example for Sadaqah and personal needs like medicine .)
-When carrying money it is best to conceal the money in waist pouches because thieves always go for pockets.
-It is best to have most money in traveler’s checks because they are safe and can be cashed almost anywhere.
-Saudi Arabia banks, traveler’s checks can be cashed at the many money changers located at markets in Madina .
-Carry a minor amount of riyals (Saudi currency) at least 1000 ( 1 dollar= 3.75 riyals) or immediate expenses .
-You can purchase it at almost all currency exchanges located in major American airports. -hunting (Killing any kind of animal)
-wearing sewn clothes
-Putting on make -up
-putting on henna
-shoes and socks
-pulling out a tooth
-covering the face
-putting on ointment
-removing hairs from any part of the body. (plucking, shaving, clipping.)
-cutting your nails
-carrying weapons Preparations and Intentions for Hajj -When staying overnight in Mina, you should bring small snacks such as dried fruit and cracker. There are also many people that sell food on the street.
-You don't need to in Mecca and Madinah there are many halal restaurants to choose from.
Also breakfast, lunch and dinner are provided at the hotels and at a certain time.
-There are many nice Hotels in Makkah and Madinah.
-Food and Transportation will be provided for the whole group. (In coach buses)
-While traveling with the group you will be provided with snacks.
-Everywhere you go there will be Zamzam tubs, which you can drink from. (in the masjid etc.)
-sleeping bags and tents will all be provided the nights you sleep outside. -It depends on where you are coming from. If you are coming from North America you will change into your Ihram from your stop over.
-Every time on the plane they will announce that we are approaching the Meeqat and that you can change into your Ihram.
-You have to make the intention out loud on the plane or where ever you are.
-Men: 2 piece non-stitched cloth
most preferably cotton because it absorbs the sweat. (It is like towel like, but not exactly)
Woman: Abayah (Must cover the whole body head to toe.)
-Most importantly you have to make the intention from your heart before anything. -You must need one ID or credit card for emergencies; everything else will be kept with your group leader
-you can buy SIM cards (Saudia telecoms or mobility) from Saudi Arabia
-It is better to bring cash, because not all stores will accept your credit cards.
-Have a copy of all important information
-You should have:
ID (Identification card)
Credit car/credit card info
- If you have questions about anything,the imam is the best person to ask.
-From North America you can't get in Mecca without out your group leader(imam).
-You will have company when you go for Umrah, and having a group lets you meet new people.
-Others in your group might have more experience than you.
- You don't need to worry that much about accommodations because your imam has everything planned out already. there are many advantages of being in a group: -Upon arrival in Jeddah be very patient knowing that they are millions of people coming from all over the world .
-The hajj terminal is an open air terminal, so it is not fully conditioned.
-Be ready for the extremely hot weather.
-You are already in the state of Ihram so be calm and careful of your decisions and actions. -You travel from Jeddah Airport in terminal buses with groups of people.
-The bus ride is pretty long.
-In Hajj security they have check points, so be ready to disembark your bus for security and immigration checks.
-Carry water and liquids with you.
-Spend time doing Dhiker and especially Talbiyah.
- When you get to your Hotel expect a long line up in the lobby. Make your niyyah and put on your Ihram.
Preform Umrah (Tawaf, Saiy, hair)
8th of Dhul Hijjah:
Make your niyyah in Meeqat, if your in Madinah (Dhul Halayfa) or Makkah
Departure for Mina in the morning.
Pray your 5 daily prays there.(shortening salah)
Spend all your time praying and making Dua.
9th: After Fajr Depart from Mina to Arafat.
Keep saying the Talbiyah.
At Magrib time depart from Arafat to Musdalifah.
Once you arrive pray Magrib and Isha
You will be staying there over night.
Try to collect pebbles for the next day. Then you may go to sleep.
Arrive in Mina in the morning
Stone the Jamarat for one whole day. - Be respectful to the people around you.
-Lower your gaze
-Keep away from all prohibited actions.
-Keep away from smoking and drinking.
-No interference with the opposite gender.
-To be kind to one another
-To be generous and kind
- Serving and helping everyone
-Obey all the Rules and regualtions of the country
-Greet one anohter with salam ..... Talbiyah. (To be recited any time.)

Meaning of Talbiyah: "Here I am O Allah, (in response to Your call), here I am. Here I am, You have no partner, here I am. Verily all praise and grace belong to You. You have no partner."
- Not to push people around -Dress modestly
- Polluting - Be polite and mannered
- Cursing -Greet one another with salam
- Fighting - spend your time reciting Quran or duas
- Spitting -Be clean when you enter
- Carrying a weapon -lower your gaze
Al-Masjid al-Haraam was the first house of worship ordained for mankind on Earth. Allah has placed several blessings in it, for e.g. the Salaat in al-Masjid al-Haraam has multiplied rewards when compared to the Salaat performed elsewhere. The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him.)
Haraam: -Pray 2 sunnah
-Dont raise your voice. The prophet Muhammad (saw) said: "The worst noise is like the braying of a Donkey."
-Dress code (wear loose appropriate clothing, try to wear thomb or Abayah.) - Make sure that your financial payment is from Halal sources
-Seek forgiveness from others before you leave. (Make sure that no one had anything against you.)
-If you see any impolite behavior be calm or just keep quite.
-Try not to get angry over small things.
-Learn how to pray the pray for the one who is traveling. (Salat-ul-Safar)
-Be positive and Sincere with yourself and all your acts.
-Write or Update your will.
-Everything starts with your Niyyah (intention). Without making it your Hajj will be useless and it will not count.
