Mary Mother of God
Transcript of Mary Mother of God
Introduction of Mary-
Mary is the Mother of God, Mother of Jesus, wife of St. Joseph, and the greatest of all Christian saints. She was an Israelite Jewish woman of Nazareth in Galilee. As Catholics we believe that Mary was blessed by God to receive a baby called Jesus who was born to be the Messiah, the son of God. From that day fourth Mary's life was never the same, she experienced luminous, joyful, sorrowful and glorious times but luckily God was always at her side, watching over her and leading her on the right path. We can read about Mary's stories in the New Testament of the Bible.
Mary's Feast Day's
The Feast Days of Mary are:
Assumption Of Mary Into Heaven - August 15 - On this feast of Mary we celebrate a special favor that God gave to Mary, our Mother. The Assumption means that Mary was taken up into the glory of heaven not only with her soul, but also with her body.
Birth Of Mary- September 8- This feast day is celebrated as it is the birth of Mary!
Immaculate Conception- December 8- The Immaculate Conception refers to the condition that the Blessed Virgin Mary was free from sin from the very moment of her conception in the womb of her mother, Saint Anne.
Presentation Of Mary- November 21- The Presentation of Mary is celebrated as it was when Joachim and Anne (Mary's parents) , who had been childless, received a heavenly message from God that they would have a child. This child was of course Mary.
Our Lady Of Lourdes - February 11- Our Lady of Lourdes is a title of the Blessed Virgin Mary invoked by Roman Catholics in honor of the Marian apparitions which are said to have taken place before various individuals on separate occasions around Lourdes, France.
Our Lady Of Mount Carmel- July 16- On this Feast day we remeber the Blessed Virgin Mary and her role of patroness of the Carmelite Order. In the late 12th to 13th century the first christians built a chapel which they dedicated to Mary.
Our Lady Of the Rosary- October 7 - The feast of Our Lady of the Rosary is celebrated to honor Mary for the Christian victory over the Turks at Lepanto on October 7, 1571.
Our Lady Of Sorrows- September 15 - This Feast day is celebrated to praise Mary for all the sorrowful times she has been through through out her life. We praise her for her strength and courage to get through these devastating times of her life.
Queenship Of The Virgin Mary- August 22 - On this day we recognise Mary as being the Queen of Heaven.
Prayers for Mary
Hail Holy Queen
Hail, holy Queen, Mother of Mercy, Our life, our sweetness and our hope.
To thee do we cry, poor banished children of Eve, To thee do we send up our sighs, Mourning and weeping in this valley of tears.
Turn then, most gracious Advocate, thine eyes of mercy toward us, And after this our exile, show unto us the blessed fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary! Pray for us, O Holy Mother of God, That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.
Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee; blessed are thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death.
Remember, O most loving Virgin Mary,
that never was it known that anyone
who fled to your protection,
implored your help,
or sought your intercession was left unaided.
Inspired with this confidence, we turn to you,
O Virgin of virgins, our Mother.
To you we come, before you we stand,
sinful and sorrowful.
O Mother of the Word Incarnate,
do not despise our petitions,
but in your mercy hear us and answer us.
V. The angel of the Lord declared unto Mary:
R. And she conceived by the Holy Spirit.
V. Behold the handmaid of the Lord:
R. Be it done to me according to your word.
V. And the Word was made flesh:
R. And dwelt among us.
V. Pray for us, O holy mother of God.
R. That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.
Let us pray:
Pour forth, we beseech you, O Lord, your grace into our hearts, that we to whom the incarnation of Christ, your Son, was made known by the message of an angel, may by his passion and cross be brought to the glory of his resurrection, through the same Christ our Lord. Amen.
My soul glorifies the Lord,
my spirit rejoices in God, my Saviour.
He looks on his servant in her lowliness;
henceforth all ages will call me blessed.
The Almighty works marvels for me.
Holy his name!
His mercy is from age to age,
on those who fear him.
He puts forth his arm in strength
and scatters the proud-hearted.
He casts the mighty from their thrones
and raises the lowly.
He fills the starving with good things,
sends the rich away empty.
He protects Israel, his servant,
remembering his mercy,
the mercy promised to our forebears,
to Abraham and his line for ever.
Dedication to Mary, our Mother
Pray for us ever, Holy Mother of God.
Pray for us, whatever be our cross,
as we pass along our way.
Pray for us, and we shall rise again,
though we have fallen.
Pray for us when sorrow,
anxiety or sickness comes upon us.
Pray for us when we are prostrate
under the power of temptation.
Sub tuum praesidium confugimus, Sancta Dei Genetrix. Nostras deprecationes ne despicias in necessitatibus1, sed a periculis cunctis libera nos semper, Virgo gloriosa et benedicta. Amen.
We fly to thy patronage, O holy Mother of God; despise not our petitions in our necessities, but deliver us always from all dangers, O glorious and blessed Virgin. Amen.
Mother of God, and daughter of thy Son, yet mother mine;
The Lady of thy Lord, the Holy One, thy Child Divine;
Show me thy wondrous Babe, O Mother Maid, foretold of yore;
The treasure on thy virgin bosom laid let me adore.
Mother of God, commend me to thy Son, as here I bend;
And O, commend me when my task is done and life shall end;
Within thy out stretched hands I leave my heart, pure Maid, with thee;
A worthless gift from which thou wilt not part eternally.
Mother of God Hymn
O Queen of the Holy Rosary,
O bless us as we pray,
And offer thee our roses
In garlands day by day,
While from our Father's garden,
With loving hearts and bold,
We gather to thine honor
Buds white and red and gold.
O Queen of the Holy Rosary,
Each myst'ry blends with thine
The sacred life of Jesus
In ev'ry step divine.
Thy soul was His fair garden,
Thy virgin breast His throne,
Thy thoughts His faithful mirror,
Reflecting Him alone.
Sweet Lady of the Rosary,
White roses let us bring,
And lay them round thy footstool,
Before our Infant King.
For, resting in thy bosom,
God's Son was fain to be
The child of thy obedience
And spotless purity.
Queen of the Holy Rosary Hymn
O Mary, Mother full of grace,
Mother of love and mercy, hear!
Help us our enemy to face,
And at the hour of death be near.
Eternal praise to Thee,O Lord,
Born of a Virgin ever pure;
Praise to the holy Trinity
While endless ages yet endure.
Mary, Mother full of grace Hymn
Heart of Mary, Heart all pure,
Sinless Heart of Mary!
Heart most tender, refuge sure,
Spotless Heart of Mary!
Chosen vessel undefiled,
Lily chalice holy!
Through the merits of thy Child,
Make us pure and holy.
Temple of the Trinity,
Throne of God all holy,
Ark of His divinity,
Cradle of the Word divine,
Show us Christ our Brother,
Heart of Mary, mystic shrine,
Show thyself our Mother.
Source of Christ's most precious blood,
Virgin Heart of Mary!
Cleanse us in that saving flood,
Victim Heart of Mary!
May thy love our hearts refine,
Bless our consecration;
May our heart be one with thine,

In the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent by God to a town in Galilee called Nazareth, to a virgin engaged to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David. The virgin's name was Mary. And he came to her and said, "Greetings, favored one! The Lord is with you." But she was much perplexed by his words and pondered what sort of greeting this might be. The angel said to her, "Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. And now, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you will name him Jesus. He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Most High, and the Lord God will give to him the throne of his ancestor David. He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of his kingdom there will be no end." Mary said to the angel, "How can this be, since I am a virgin?" The angel said to her, "The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; therefore the child to be born will be holy; he will be called Son of God. And now, your relative Elizabeth in her old age has also conceived a son; and this is the sixth month for her who was said to be barren. For nothing will be impossible with God." Then Mary said, "Here am I, the servant of the Lord; let it be with me according to your word." Then the angel departed from her.
The Baptism of Jesus in the River Jordan
That one more powerful than John was Jesus. John, with his baptism and announcement of the coming kingdom of God, had prepared the way for Jesus. There was a spirit of revival and a new religious fervor among the people. It was time for Jesus to begin His ministry.
Jesus was about 30 years old by this time. So far, He had lived His life quietly as a carpenter. But one day Jesus came to the wilderness, where John was preaching, and asked to be baptized. John knew Jesus was the Messiah and told Him, "No, I am the one who needs to be baptized by You. Why are You coming to me?" But Jesus said it was the proper thing to do, so John baptized Jesus in the River Jordan.
After Jesus was baptized, as He was coming out of the water, the Spirit of God came down on Jesus like a dove from heaven. A voice from heaven was heard to say, "This is my beloved Son, and I am very pleased with Him."

The Coronation of Mary as Queen of Heaven and Earth
As a reward for her holiness and perfection of virtues, Jesus gave her dominion over the Angels and the Saints as their queen.
Evil spirits fear Mary more than any other human because they never had any power over her for she was conceived in her mother's womb without the blemish of original sin.
Jesus could only enter this world through a spotless woman, one created as Adam and Eve were created, perfect in the eyes of God.

What may Mary be feeling in these scriptures?
Loved and Cared for
Of Jesus performing miracles and for being brave in numerous events such as when he gave himself for us when he died on the cross.
As she Knows it may be hard to raise the son of God. She may be frighted to think that, what if she doesn't raise him good enough? Or to God's expectations?
Mary would definitely be feeling this when she knows that Jesus will be hung and crucified
Mary would have felt this as she may be questioning why they would crucify Jesus when he is rightfully the son of God, Jesus Christ!
She knows that she is loved and cared for by God and Joseph as they both cared for her and loved her throughout her life in numerous occasions
Mary would have been absolutely amazed when God sent down the angle, Gabrielle down from heaven to ask if she called raise and give birth to Jesus Christ. She would have also been amazed as God chose her out of all the people in the world!
She must have felt a feeling of enthusiasm to try to be the best mother any son could ever have!
She would have certainly felt honored to be blessed by God to be presented with the one and only Jesus Christ, the messiah, the son of God himself!
