True facts about your kindey!

Kidney stones!
Questions time!
Every 30 minutes, all the blood in your body travels through the kidneys
Infections and kidney stones

are two of the most common kidney problems.
Infections are due to the bacteria
E. coli
gaining access to the urinary tract where they can connect with the kidneys urinary tract infection (UTI) treated with
antibiotics
.
Kidney stones, on the other hand, are solid, chemical deposits that form inside the kidney
Dehydration
is one of the most common causes of kidney stones.
Mechanism of action
As the kidney's function slows down, nitrogenous wastes build up in the blood and diffuse into the intestinal fluid by natural physiological process.
Certain probiotic microorganisms can utilize urea, uric acid and creatinine and other toxins as its
nutrients for growth
multiply
gradient concentration
is generated which drives a
passive diffusion
of more toxins from the blood to the colon's lumen.
Enteric toxin reduction technology uses probiotic organisms to transform the colon into a
blood cleansing agent
, which indirectly removes toxic wastes and helps eliminate them as fecal matter.
Main constituents
microbes are natural occurring and not genetically modified
They are screened, selected and grown under uremic conditions, so that they have a higher affinity for uremic toxins.
They are specifically from classes already approved for human consumption and are
Generally Recognized as Safe (GRAS)
under US FDA guidelines.

some interesting info.
Active Constituents
1. Ammi visnaga (Khellin) …. 20mg
2.Cymbopogon proximus (proximadiol) …. 0.1ml

Kellagon effervescent granules are intended for
renal, urethral & cystic lithiasis
(formation of stones).
1. Ammi visnaga

Khellin is a
diuretic, powerful antispasmodic
for ureter muscles & decreases its tonicity so ease the passage of the calculi.
Indicated for:
renal colic
renal & uretric stones
The diuretic effect is due to Khelloglycosides & terpenes ( from Cymbopogon proximus), which:
renal blood flow
GFR
2. Cymbopogon proximus
Evidence based uses
Special precautions
Khella is POSSIBLY UNSAFE when taken in
high doses or used for a long time
. It can cause side effects including:
liver problems,
nausea, dizziness,
constipation, lack of appetite,
headache, trouble sleeping,
itching, and skin sensitivity to sunlight (photosensitization).
Pregnancy and breast-feeding: it’s
LIKELY UNSAFE
to take khella if you are pregnant. It contains khellin, a chemical that can cause the uterus to contract. This might cause a
miscarriage
.
It’s also best to
avoid
khella if you are breast-feeding (no enough info!).
imp. interactions!
• DIGOXIN (Lanoxin) + Khella
Khella seems to slow the heartbeat. Taking khella along with digoxin might decrease the effectiveness of digoxin.
HEPATOTOXIC DRUGS + Khella
Some medications that can harm the liver include acetaminophen (Tylenol), amiodarone (Cordarone), carbamazepine (Tegretol), methyldopa (Aldomet), phenytoin (Dilantin), lovastatin (Mevacor) inc. risk of liver harm.
PHOTOSENSITIZING DRUGS + Khella
Some drugs that cause photosensitivity include amitriptyline (Elavil), Ciprofloxacin (Cipro), trimethoprim/sulfamethoxazole (Septra) and tetracycline inc. risk of sun burn, rashes & blisters. Wear sunblock!
I reduce in the size of the calculi & may cause its disappearance.
=)
Women who drink black tea seem to have an 8% lower risk of developing kidney stones (relaxing effect).
;)
Fel matba5!
I am a great urine-promoter and a kidney tonic.
I'm a natural remedy for kidney stones due to my sourness and astringent properties.
As a tea, I'm a kidney tonifier. It’s believed in folk medicine with pure basil juice can help induce stone expulsion from the urinary tract.
I'm an effective urinary home remedy for kidney stones, traditionally my pods were used as a medicinal tonic & to ease kidney stone pain.
:D

Some feedback !
1145 L.E
Its active constituents are proximadiol & terpenes.
Proximadiol causes
ureteric dilatation
while increasing the propulsive movement of the smooth muscles of the ureter, helping the expulsion of the calculi.
Terpenes contribute to the
diuretic effect

renal blood flow

What are the precautions one should take care of when using Khella?
