Contraception methods The Pill The Pill is a small tablet that the female would take each day. The pills contain two types of female hormones estrogen and progestin.
The hormones in the pills prevent pregnancy by suppressing your pituitary gland, which stops the development and release of the egg in the ovary. The progestin also helps to prevent the sperm from reaching the egg and changes the lining of the uterus. Pros: Effective against pregancy
Cons: Have to remeber to take every day
Does not protect against STD'S
Male Condoms Condoms are another form of birth control.The male condoms are rolled over the penis to prevent semen form entering the vagina. Condoms are often made of latex, lambskin or polyurethane. Some condoms are coated with additional spermicidal gel to help destroy any present sperm. Pros: Lowers risk of STDs
Effective against pregnancy
Cons: Have to use a new one every time you have sexual intercourse.
Can break. Withdrawal method The withdraw methode is when the male removes his penis from the vagina befor ejaculation. It is not a very good contraception because 18-19% always fails. Pros: Natural, so no side effects
Doesn't cost anything Cons: Not very effective method of contraception
Doesn't protect against STDs Skin Patch The skin patch releases hormones through the skin into the bloodstream to prevent pregnancy. Pro: Very effective against pregnancy if used correctly. Con:Doesn't protect against STDs. Vaginal Hormonal Rings is a thin, transparent, flexible ring that you can insert yourself. It releases the two hormones, and makes the walls thicker. It is another form of birthcontrol pros: Very effective against pregnancy if used correctly Cons:Higher risk of blood clots
