By: Aaron Schmitt Jackie Robinson Jackie Robinson was born January 31st, 1919 in Cario Ohio. He was rasied by just his mother along with 4 other children she had. They were the only black family on the block and the prejudice they encountered only strengthened their bond. The birth Growing up He had joined the army when he went to college funding wasnt going so right and in the end he had an honorable discharge. Growing up Part 2 He had started out in the Negro league and had started playing baseball there in 1945. He had played one season, Traveling all over the mid west with the Kansas city Monarchs. But in 1947 Branch Rickey, the president of the Brooklyn Dodgers offered him to join the Brooklyn Dodgers. He had accepted and broke the color barrier in baseball since then. He ended his rookie season with 12 homeruns 29 bases stolen and a batting average of .297. He was inducted into the baseball hall of fame in 1962 after 2 seasons of playing he was the right choice. Playing baseball He was heroic because he served in the military
